Hi mate, can you pm me some details about It (how old is the unit, miles covered, any faults within your ownership, year car fitted to, manual or dsg, oh and price)

When I get my next EA888 + DSG based car I'll refit the the JB4. I think the problem with mines was either:

1. DSG oil too low (known to happen from factory).
2. DSG adaptations needed reset.

The second one is a half decent possibility. I only did 800 miles before I fitted the JB1 and I ran that for about 8,000 miles before upgrading to JB4. The JB4 spools soooo much quicker than the JB1 that I think it was perhaps catching the DSG napping (i.e. while peak clamping pressure was sufficient, it was too slow to clamp down). George felt that a VCDS reset of the DSG adaptations and then running with the JB4 would have allowed the car to adapt and solve the problem. I had to remove the JB4 for a service and then I'd have to find someone with VCDS and refit the damn thing. All in all, it seemed easier to wait for the next car but I'll defo refit the JB4 as it has some real fireworks at the top end.

Thanks mate, did you order it direct with them if so do you remember what import tax and duty you paid? Or did you order from a UK dealer. Seen one dealer and the mark up from ordering direct is a little steep yet hard to base it without knowing the import costs

I ordered from JB4shop.co.uk. At the time I wasn't going to save a great deal bringing it in from America. It's worth keeping an eye on VWROC classified as they quite often come up when people sell up or move onto a full remap.

Thanks mate, I've had a look and UK suppliers are after £458 (without the cable) yet direct it comes in £331 Inc cable however there is the importing duties which I'm not to sure on. Haven't got access to the classifieds on there yet however I've seen a JB1 used for £300 which still seems high considering for not a lot more a new unit can be had and will have support and warranty. I'll keep looking as I'm in no rush. Appreciate all your help

Defo get cable. You'll want to change from the base map to a custom one. I run + 5.2psi over stock and the car has been happy in all conditions. I suppose I'd be a little more considerate in really high temps (i.e. 25°C+) but, frankly, if it's that hot I'd be taking advantage and lying in the garden, not ragging the car.

Maybe worth me pointing out that every VAG that I have changed the DSG fluid on (first change @ 40k miles ) has been filled with less oil from the factory to the quoted fill amount; I always drain the old fluid into a measuring jug.

It's also worth pointing out that TPS usually supply you one too many bottles of DSG oil. Handy if you spill some, but it's bloody expensive stuff to have gathering dust on the shelf if you don't use it!
