Blobeye sti widetrack or sti 330s hatch?
Once the pistons and gaskets are sorted the torque from the engine is awesome ,, if you can stretch then get one already forged as they pop up every now and again
I'm running 531bhp from my forged 2.5 so they can be made a lot stronger than a Standard engine it comes with

£1500 sounds pretty cheap to be honest, I think the parts alone would be roughly that much. I think you'll be lucky to get much change out of £3.5k for a good rebuild, with a new clutch and a remap.

I brought mine with the engine already done , the rest of the car was still standard so it was a case of the last owner doing all the engine work ( and he did it all right first time) as it failed and then I suspect he either ran out of money or enthusiasm for the car and then sold it on without doing any more o it , this left me to do all other bits to take the power to where I wanted
My last Scoob was a hawk Sti (2.5) and I ran that to 380bhp on the standard engine without it having any problems so not all 2.5s fail

I was looking on hurst at 2 cars he has in stock, he has a blob jdm with 73k on the clock and a blob widetrack with 69k on the clock, both are up for 10,950 but thinking I could get one for 10k.
which would be the better route to go?

£1500 is roughly what having the head gasket replaced on my 2.5 STI is costing. The forged pistons are coming in at another £600 fitted. The clutch / cambelt / precautionary bottom end rebuild / bearings are costing a bit more on top of that! Think all in including remap at £3.5k probably sounds about right!
ive a forged 330 hatch and its a cracking car to live with daily, and thats coming from a Spec D and UK classic before hand.
granted yes 2.5 engine is a problem as is the £500 tax, but once engine is sorted its honestly no comparison id wouldnt take any newage car over a hatch/saloon as a daily driver.

Not yet fren, getting a quit on a Sunday was impossible as normal compare sites don't recognise the number plates and you can't manually put in that the car is an import.
I got a quote today that I was happy with so if the car is still there Saturday I will be making to 3 hour drive to view it.
