Blobeye sti widetrack or sti 330s hatch?

I'm looking at buying a Impreza in the next few months and it's out of an blob eye sti widetrack or hatchback 330s.

ive got around 13k to spend and will be using it as my daily.

whats better to live with and which one will hold its value better over the coming years?

SubieJack 11 March 2017 08:05 PM

Blobeye widetrack STi will no doubt hold its value the best. 2.0L lump is all you need to help you decide... and I'm biased :D

I love the look of the hatch but the ringland problem makes me so unsure.

Yep by at least £4k.... :cuckoo:

Cambs_Stuart 12 March 2017 08:12 AM

For £13k you could get a jdm blob...

Even with the low miles you think it's that overpriced?

Type UK Widetrack all day long... £12k and it's yours

Yup, If you really got to have it then maybe £10k if it's pristine, but you'll get a JDM STI for that money and they are more desirable and will hold their value better.

Hurst cars is apparently a good dealer, but he sure makes you pay for it... as do some others.

Matty81 12 March 2017 09:19 AM

Definitely prefe the look of a hatch. They are great cars if we looked after.

ZANY 12 March 2017 09:28 AM

Buy mine :-)

£14k it's yours :) guaranteed you won't find such example anywhere :thumb:

S203 bro then put a hole in its roof :norty:

domino46 12 March 2017 10:08 AM

the 330s comes with quite a few extras over the normal hatch sti , like keyless entry and start , sat nav , much better seats , cruise control , plus loads of other bits , iv had loads of blobs and my hatch is a much better all rounder and better to drive every day , and your budget should see you into a already forged one

how many of you have owned both and still prefer the blob over the hatch ?

Yeah, it does come with a lot of additional things - I used to own one, and had a blob STI previous to that, but they come with one additional extra that's not very nice - dodgy pistons unless its been "fixed"

scooby1982 12 March 2017 12:40 PM

Another vote for the blob wide track or JDM blob believe they will hold its value much better than the hatch all day long

Ive owned both.my hatch was forged tho.but looking back I much preferred the hatch over the blob.the torque from the 2.5 made things effortless.you don't see many on the roads either.

At 48,000 that is on the money for a dealer, the 2.0 widetracks will be the most desirable in years to come, didn't they only make these for just under a year?

I love the the sti hatch but the 2.5 puts me right off

domino46 12 March 2017 05:25 PM

but a forged 2.5 is a wonderful thing and there is no replacement for displacement lol

iv also had more 2ltrs fail on me than the 2.5s iv owned so I don't let it put me off

ryan51 12 March 2017 05:33 PM

I genuinely wish I'd never sold my hatch.i still have a few pictures and it was a great car.the blob widetrack on the over hand was good but for me not even close to the hatch.

sherlock1988 12 March 2017 08:04 PM

I'm shocked to hear people come out and say how much they liked the hatch.
I really want the hatch but worry about paying out loads to fix it

ryan51 12 March 2017 08:27 PM

Was really a great car.the torque was brilliant.the only negative for me was the £500 road tax.i believe it now lives in France.

Jay Cartay 13 March 2017 01:16 AM

I currently have a widetrack Blob and a 62 plate saloon, so the hatch shape car. The 62 plate is much nicer to drive on a daily basis. The widetrack is doing track duties and is awesome but they're very bouncy on the road and not as comfortable.

sherlock1988 13 March 2017 07:36 AM

I've been reading threads on this forum and found one saying it will cost about £1500 to upgrade the hatch to forged pistons and put a cosworth head gasket on, so I'm guessing if you pay out then the hatch shouldn't have the usual problems?

domino46 13 March 2017 07:42 AM

Once the pistons and gaskets are sorted the torque from the engine is awesome ,, if you can stretch then get one already forged as they pop up every now and again

I'm running 531bhp from my forged 2.5 so they can be made a lot stronger than a Standard engine it comes with
