Doesn't icloud back up your important data anyway
( Iv never received message saying it's full)
I think iv lost or forgotten password for what you're suggesting

It does. But I'm not certain how it handles lots of photos stored only on the phone, that's not a good policy, you could use Google if you don't want to use iCloud, even Dropbox will copy all photos to online storage. Photostream if you enabled it would have probably helped. Not knowing your iCloud password on an iPhone is just a bit silly, change it.

Iv confused icloud password with iTunes passcode ( for phone restore) , since I thought might find something there
What I don't get is as far as I can tell I had save to icloud on auto . But its not even full up ( only used 1.6gb !)
I'm pretty sure I had over 15gb used out of 64 gb memory
if id had removable sd card I wouldn't had problems , but this is all differnt

Is it purely money making scheme ?
I mean it would be so much easier to press the buy extra storage button , over plugging the ******* thing into a laptop every few days

Like I said many other services will gladly back up your photos for your if you don't wan't to pay Apple or connect to your computer. Mine used to do it over Wifi when on the same network, you can do the same if you want.

data saved to ibooks seems to be missing ( non purchased stuff ) , don't know where that's gone , and all messages - but I'm guessing this is network associated .
Mine does it over wifi , just you've got have computer with you - lesson learnt

I guess the cost of storage depends on what your type of usage. 50GB of iCloud storage is 79p/m but even by todays standards even that is getting small when you take into account all your music, photos, videos and movies along with your application data and other user files. For most, photos and videos make up the bulk of the files stored on phones and all this can be backed up free (including 4k video) with Google Pixel and accessed on any other device/computer without it eating into your free 15GB Google Drive storage. You can pay Google £1.59/m for an additional 100GB if you have lots of music files and lots of apps. So yes, unlimited photo/video storage is not just a lot different, it is a massive difference to iCloud and other cloud storage services especially when phones now have well in excess of 128GB of internal storage that needs to be backed up.
