Arn't they the £150 chimichonga turbo sellers?

£1500 for a crank sounds mega expensive though.

Can't you get nitrided for 1/2 that?

Heat treated crank is not the same as nitrided. All new impreza cranks are now heat treated and not nitride cranks.

I know it's max something, they are supposed to be reputable and create pistons and rods for other brands.

So the big question do I go for the 2.35 or 2.42?

Know anyone who has actually used them yourself? Soon as i see £150 turbos i get ebay special chinese nock off shudders.

But as said nitrided will do the job (as banny shows), a known quantity and cheaper.

Well the car is long since dead (engine is going strong in a mk1 escort ran by CAMS) I drove it for a year as a daily to work and back 14 miles round trip and was a pleasure to drive and no issues in traffic.

I ran an exedy twin plate clutch and I preferred the pedal feel to the ACT I had in the type r I just sold but then again the twin is almost double the price.

to better explain
the EJ20 STi cranks are still manufactured in "nitrided" form and have a matt BLACK appearance.......

the EJ257 crank is no longer available in nitrided (ceased approx 4-5yrs ago!!) and is supplied these days in a std "heat treated" form and have a mainly steel finish with heat / rainbow marks

Perfect, thanks Alyn.So although both are a "heat treatement" they are actually different.

Are nitrided the ones to have then?

the nitrided cranks are arguably "tougher" but we have found the newer 2.5 H/T's to be very effective also

£150 sounds dear! My £125 td0520g is performing excellently, recently pushed my newage into the low 12's.
