So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.

Deal or no deal I just wish this sorry saga was over. Boris has said many times he will walk away then he keeps extending his deadlines. It wouldn’t surprise me if he just extends the proper 31st leaving date.

Fortunately there is no way to extend. He's treading a thin rope to disaster, if he ***** up

The EUP either made another empty threat to kill off the negotiations tonight or time is up to scrutinise the some 800 pages of tech docs already created. The ERG has stated too they wont be quickly bumped into a knee jerk decision until all pages have been thoroughly analysed.

You have that ar$e about face DPB. The only option to save him is WTO now. The EU don't want UK to be free commercially and want 75% of all our fish too. There is not a chance that is going to anywhere near satisfactory to the 'Red-Wall'rs' or ERG and possibly Scottish SNP for fishing

The 75% is the percentage of british fish (uk exports) caught - sold to EU
You Personally are going to have to eat that instead !

75% of the fish is caught by foreign vessels and taken straight to foreign ports for their benefit. Why can our dwindling fleet not catch them and sell them to the EU. They will definitely purchase one way or another cause it is part of their diet.
why couldnt we be catching 75% of the fish ?
if we sold much more of it to the Eu we wouldnt have much left for us

Only one or two super trawlers catch the vast majority of the fish. These vessels need to ne banned, a period of restrictions to fishing to allow stocks to replenish. Then restriction of vessels and catches reviewed each year to ensure no over fishing

The millionaires hoarding UK fishing rights (theecologist.org)
Some those non eu trawlers are registered in far flung places , how do you stop them ..
It looks like foreign owned boats will still be allowed to fish in uk waters after brexit

The thing is the quota is like your driving licence it entitles you to drive but it can be revoked at anytime. Alot of the large owners have bought their quota which can also be revoked. Its a dangerous game buying something you don't actually own. The quota system all started with the EU log books 30/40 years ago and the lies that were put in those log books were unreal. There was far far more put on the log books than was actually caught to build up quotas in areas where the coop's needed to show the boats were catching stocks but when the powers that be came to look for the said stocks they weren't there because they were all lies to start with. The stocks now are booming but the boats haven't the quota on their licences to catch them so they are thrown back dead. The whole thing is a complete f**k up which granted the fishermen helped create themselves but greed is an awful thing.
Its so funny Brexiteers pasionately arguing about fishing!
Its such an important point for the perception of "taking back control" yet it accounts for just 0.1% of the UK economy! Seriously, who gives a f***
Its hilarious listening to the complaints about the quota system, which is only a problem in the UK because the British government decided to make a commodity out of it and allow foreign investors to buy up the UK quota! Yet this is somehow the EU's fault!
But you know, screw 99.9% of the economy, taking back control of fishing is way more important so we can commodotise our catch even more to foreign investors!
The most popular consumed fish in the UK is Cod, yet almost all Cod consumed in the UK is imported. The most common fish in UK waters are Makerel and Herring and nearly all of it is exported because Brits don't eat it! So year, lets get no deal, slap import tarrifs on all the fish we like eating and all the fish we catch will be subject to export tarifs! I'm not so sure battered Makerel will be quite so popular down the chippy come 1st Jan!

Its so cliche its beyond funny!
Farmers are screwed, but who cares, cheap lamb all round.
Those holidays in the Costa del Cleethorps drinking English wine just sound dreamy!
And sod making vacuum cleaners more efficient, just bung a bigger motor in it instead and you can also use to hoover to heat your house! (Not that it was Dyson who successfully lobied the EU for strickter regulations in the first place)

EU using Covid excuse as a weapon to lever negotiations. The new variant is already in Europe, bolt, horse blah, blah, blah
It’s precisely that ^^ kind of rabid paranoia that’s stifled our membership from the off

Know all about it cause I was guilty of some of the facts in that article. I actually fished on the deck of the ship Tom Watson is standing on before she got tied up. It is the Jacinta FD159.
