UK replacement for the CE mark after Brexit.

This will only add additional costs to manufacturers which will result in higher prices in the UK and will probably mean that manufacturers will simply not bring many products to the UK market due to the additional costs of conforming to another standard.

This is the reality of taking back control, you depart from common international standards which only adds costs.

Another project bullsh1t EU bashing argument quashed.

They're trying to create a row about the EU calling Gibraltar a colony, but just have a look at this old Blue style "Colony of Gibralta" passport!!

That’s alright then, Ireland wasn’t always independent so no need for a backstop.

So presumably Teresa has spent last week with her lawyer consulting on what will happen if we just do f'll about the border and whether we can afford it , and now trotting off to Brussels to threaten them with import duties or summut . Isnt it slightly ironic when we were all het up over the french not enforcing the border and now any Tom dick and harry will be able to just walk across

I wonder if Nissan's latest decision will make her behave any differently. I know there are other reasons in play as well, but it does have a bearing (as Nissan have said), and it's not as if they are the only company making noises now.

<places tongue in cheek> Clearly need someone that is better at negotiating than her, maybe Boris could help...or one of his mates? If they aren't available JerryC seems to know what's up so maybe he can have a crack? <removes tongue from cheek>

Speech from 2011, was something along the lines of the only way to fix some problem using some method is something about sovereignty, basically out of context and jumped on by morons.

Propaganda, how does it work? Do you know who the guy giving that speech is and his role in the EU?

He is Guy Verhofstadt, he's an MEP and the leader of the Liberal ALDE group. The ALDE group consists of 68 MEPs and as such is the 4th largest group within the European parliament. For comparison, Nigel Farage is also an MEP and is leader of the EFDD group with 45 MEPs the 7th largest group in the European parliament. The two largest groups are the EPP with 217 MEPs and the PES with 189 MEPs. So, both ALDE and EFDD are pretty small fish when it comes to power within the European parliament.

So to claim that the EU wants to take more sovereign powers from the member nations, based on a single speech from the leader of one of the smaller groups of MEPs is simply not true. That is maybe what Guy Verhofstadt wants and maybe what the ALDE group wants, but its not what the EU as a whole want!

You could similarly post a speech from Nigel Farage and claim, based on that speech, that its EU policy for every country to leave the EU and there will be no EU any more! Obviously you wouldn't believe that, so why would believe the propaganda that video is trying to sell?

Was reading about the magical Article 24 yesterday, which Leavers seem to think is the saviour of all. Sadly, they are deluded, once again. When will they admit or realise that no deal really does f*ck us?

I really don't understand how it's a good thing to get rid all import duties while trump e.g. Is busy Imposing more of them ??

Indeed, a Leave colleague of mine was spouting about that, but failed to mention the complete tweet in context. Hard to argue with him really, there should be!

The complete tweet -

"I've been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted #BREXIT, without even a sketch of a plan to carry it out safely."

There was just guy on the radio talking about Brexit, saying that the issues the UK has have little to do with the EU, and the irony is that the government that has cause/can fix them has spent the last two years doing Brexit badly instead of fixing those issues, so things have got worse for poor people, and Brexit will make poor people poorer again, so they will be even more angry. You really couldn't make it up.

No doubt they will find a reason to blame 'Remoaners' or the EU for it. There's none so blind as those who cannot see

Quick Reply: So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.
