Well done for continuing with the project. Must be very frustrating the pace that it's moving at but you know at the end of it all it will be something rather special.
So.... LOBA HPFP fuel pump has been fitted and the car was put back on the dyno Wednesday evening for a quick sanity check. I think we can say fuelling is back and what a difference it has made! Just a sneak peak at some interesting info so far. 622bhp at the current rev limit of just under 7400rpm. On 99oct fuel at a paltry flat decked peak and held 1.25bar and 40% wastegate duty! As you can see the power is still on the rise even as the rev limit kicks in. Can’t wait to crank more boost in and extend the rev limit...... and really see what this GTX blower can do on this built engine on 99oct fuel! Seems just like the old days with the SPEC C! lol Full graphs when we get some real power.

So what happened then mate? It’s certainly been a while!
For the moment this is where my RS3 8V.1 will be. 654bhp on the GTX3582 GEN2, on 99oct fuel and sub 1.5bar of boost at peak power. We are now all out of fuelling capacity but at a safe level on stock DI (it did make 675bhp but turned down slightly for safety on the fuelling side).
This project has fought me at every BHP, but now it’s time to have a bit of well earned fun for a couple of months.
This is on the stock airbox, Forge FMIC, GTX3582 with .83 hotside, Nortech turbo kit, Peron supplied TVS Stage 3 DSG, Litchfield forged engine and 99 fuel @ sub 1.5bar boost at peak.
Let’s hit the tarmac for some summer fun, before we get back on it over autumn.
Port injection to go on and then we’ll push the boost to 2bar. Once that’s been done we’ll stick the 3584RS back on. Then if that’s not enough we’ll see what it will do on E85!
Plenty more left to do and a lot of headroom left in power. 🙈 See you all again in 2030! 🤣
So, after picking the car up on the Monday I was invited (like on the day of the event) to attend Mission Motorsports inaugural "Launch Control" event on the following Saturday. When I say "on the day" I mean I was out in the car already on Saturday morning and got a text to go over, so I immediately dropped what I was doing and headed over to Abingdon Airfield. I was actually out logging at the time and unfortunately had just filled up with a tank of Tesco Momentum. This wasn't about any event prep.... it was just a good opportunity for me to have a bit of a shakedown with the car to see where it stood in it's current "shopping car" state.
Some very nice road cars turned up to see where they stood covering Mclaren, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Mercedes AMG and Nissan GTR along with a properly sorted RCM Bentley GT race car.
To cut a long story short I only did 3 runs on the day and stopped due to soaring charge temps (we were seeing temps touching nearly 60degs) and an error code being thrown relating to the HPFP.
Regardless of this the car achieved the following 1/4m times:
1st run: 10.7
2nd run: 10.5
3rd run: 10.2
I was happy with how the car performed on these runs as a baseline on 99oct, PZero tyres and 100% full shopping car weight!
I'll be down Santa Pod in the near future to see where the car is down a proper strip.
Regardless..... I'm looking to fit my secondary port injection in the future, up the boost on the GTX3582 and then see where we are. After that I will be installing the larger GTX3584RS turbo.
It will be good to see where the car is on the black stuff as we progress through each step of the next round of upgrades.
I was backing right off after the 1/4m..... the run off wasn't very long and these stock RS3 brakes are poor to say the least. I've had previous experience of being hard on the brakes at 130mph...... back end goes very light. This car will be doing well in excess of 150mph at 1/2m..... no thanks!
Yep - have been on the brakes (not particularly hard either) in mine from 120mph and the weight transfer to the front is really unnerving to say the least.

So Autumn is all but upon us which means that's the trigger to push the mods further!
I've now done 2300 miles since I picked the car up and it's been a dream to drive tbh. This thing is so quick and anything other than a straight line, the chassis and overall dynamics limit are now so easily apparent. I've got suspension and arb mods to put on and try but i'll leave that for the moment.
The driveability is really good for this size turbo and something I was concerned about until getting proper time in the car. With the DSG box you can always be in the right gear/rev range. Yes of course there's lag but I feel it doesn't detract away from the overall drive, you just get used to driving slightly differently.
Th noise of this thing is just epic imo. With the valve system still intact (although on an aftermarket system) it's quiet when you want it to be (with no drone), but as soon as you have the valves open this engine and turbo setup sounds like a V10....... it just howls in a way that adds so much theatre to the whole experience. I absolutely love it. It's hard to explain but it sounds like an expensive exotic sports car......... not a hatchback! lol
So what's happening next.......
Syvecs have moved their S7+ ECU for my model of RS from testing to retail so I'm looking at banging that on;
Fit secondary port injection;
Wind that boost up to "man's spec";
Fit flexfuel and see what it then does on E85;
Try the GTX3584RS for giggles and repeat.
We're already talking about trying the new G series of turbo's but we're waiting of the larger variant to come out first.
Plenty more to do and the trouble with this platform is once you've built the engine you just keep going!
great write up shaun. was looking at one of these to replace my spec c with. a little more mrdern and a perfect track car. until i drove one. understeer was unbelievable. i dont know if youve tracked yours yet but with the spec c lapping the ring in 8.06 the one i drove wouldn,t make the 10 min mark..

Don't get me wrong I love the car but accept it's chassis limitations which is hardly a well guarded secret.
I was out in the RS3 yesterday for a quick run out to McDonald's and on the way back drove down a nice quiet and freshly laid tarmac national speed limit road. Obviously this was no drag strip official timing or did I have my Dragy in toe, but it was rude not to have a quick blat and I thought I would let my P3 gauge time this little stab to 60.
This is full weight fatty car, over half a tank of Tesco's finest and still shod in OEM Pzero 4yr old tyres.
With a good grip set-up the times via these gauges are between 2-3/10ths off a Dragy (so can be inline with Dragy 1ft rollout). It is what it is.
Understeer in these things is chronic. I've done one track day and it wasn't great.
People say you can greatly improve them by doing ARB and suspension mods...... I'd suggest those people haven't actually driven a car in anger that has a good chassis! lol I can't believe you can improve the dynamics enough to make it even "OK" on track unless you drive like a fanny. I read the same about it mate, and to be honest when I had mine on the OEM P Zeros the back end would step out on throttle even in mildly damp conditions and low speeds, traction control light blinked if you even dared tickle the bloody throttle and the front would wash out horribly in corners.
The brakes were also woefully lacking at high speed and didn't dig in nearly as much as I'd have liked, and squealed horribly when doing the commute.
I made two modifications that changed the entire car for me:
1) Fitted the Reyland motorsport 2 piece discs (I went for the 380 kit) with some much better uprated pads - this stopped the squeaking, but also massively improved my confidence in the car's ability to stop - really did stop on a sixpence after this.
2) Fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 4's - OEM sizes. Despite people moaning on some forums that it makes traction control light come on all the time, I had this already on the P Zeros, and typically set the traction to sport as part of my start up routine, so had no issues in trying the Pilot Sports. After going to the pilot sports, for me honestly - it was a different car. It dug in hard in corners and fired you out. Roundabouts I had previously had to be careful on in the P Zeros - let's just say I was almost terrified to see the speed I was carrying through them on the pilot sports, and the car felt like it was now glued to the tarmac. Everyone's driving style is different, but pound for pound the best change I made to the car was throwing the crappy Pirellis in the bin and going Michelin.
I thoroughly recommend you ignore the comments about traction control and try and Michelins - they are fantastic on the RS3.

I'll change to 4's when these Pzero's are shot but at the way they're wearing it will probably be another year or maybe 2! lol
I'm not fussed about the brakes as I find these are ok for street use.
I never drive with TC on, always in Sport.

Keep an eye right on the inner shoulders of the front tyres - as you’re no doubt aware they run aggressive front camber, but mine actually failed it’s MOT due to the tyres being right down on the inside - on the ground you wouldn’t have seen it unless the wheels were on full lock or it was up on a lift - across the rest of the tyre they had quite a bit left so was a bit of a shock. Alignment was fine too!

For normal road driving they’re absolutely fine mate. They haul the car up well. The only problem I’ve had is when hauling up at very very high speeds.... only done this once and wouldn’t try again. lol
Front tyre wear is fine. I’m on the square setup which probably helps. I rotated them last week to ensure wear is kept as even as possible. At 12k miles there’s no issues yet.

My traction control light became a thing when I fitted the PS4S but I simply run the TSC in sport all the time. I was getting 9k miles from the OE P-Zeros. Currently I’m up to 18k on the PS4S with loads of meat left.
