Default Driving in France - Liber-t toll badge

For those that drive in France a bit you'll understand the pain of tolls in a right hand drive car, recently I got a Liber-t péage badge from APRR which has made a world of difference. APRR happily post to the UK and accept UK bank cards but you need to understand a bit of French to get through the application.

It seems that one smart French motorway company Sanef has launched a toll tag site in English aimed at us Brits traveling in France!

Looks very helpful to me. Haven't been over there for years though.

I suppose it depends on how much the badge costs.

If you know how many tolls you are going through then I suppose you could work it out.

We only went through two rolls on the 1 1/2 trip from Lyon to St jean de la porte, so not really that much of an inconvenience. And the fact that you can just shove your credit card in doesn't cause that much trouble.
You are still going to have to stop to have the badge swiped/checked or whatever.

If it's cheaper to have the badge, great!

I have just looked at how it works, I can't think it's that good unless you use it regularly, and looking at the info, you get charged each month for using it. Albeit only a couple of Euros, but I suppose if you want an 'express lane' which is technically what it is, you do have to pay a little extra.

Great for doing lots of miles in France.

A tip off the website, keep the badge in it's bag at all times, especially when travelling in someone elses car, as it will run up a huge bill.

A lot of the liber-t lanes don't ven have barriers so you just slow down a little and whizz through.

I've also seen some nasty queues on the pay tolls, especially near Paris

Ah right, I didn't take notice to see if any of the lanes didn't have a barrier.

Had one of these for five years plus, they are a Godsend at night, in the rain, at lonely peages joining motorways and for queue jumping. When alone, they avoid having to get out to pay.

And as stated, the motorway companies are installing 30kph tolls that react very quickly.

Costs €2 a month in which it is used. Otherwise, nowt.
