I cancelled my deal, family pack, sports and HD back in May as they wanted to double the cost. A few of weeks ago they gave me back the ability to pause and record live TV (normally £10/month). Now I'm back with them with my old package after I rang to see if they would match Vodafone on the broadband package. I'm happy with £70 per month for fibre, all calls and the TV package.

Signed up for sky this weekend for the 1st time ever. Getting Sky HD+, All channels including movies (no sports), Sky fibre unlimited broadband, free calls etc all for £45 a month. Works out loads cheaper than I was paying BT before. Will see how the price increases go.

I was thinking the same, probably a hacked tv now box, can't be an android/kodi one, as they are completely useless for live tv.

Anyone no what the best boxes are for live sport etc apart from the usual sky/virgin without having to sign a contract and pay monthly ?. Guys at work use android boxes, but have heard good and bad things about them. Basically I cancelled sky movies and sport because of their crazy prices and I'm basically after a box for sport and movies where I only have to pay a 1 off payment.

If you want your content in 480p or less with constant buffering or streaming links which simply don't work, then sure buy an android box. Yes there are IP services/addons that you can pay for which will provide at least working links but the content will never be as convenient or as good as Sky+HD/Q and such like. As the old saying goes you really don't get anything for free. BT/Sky are clamping down on these channels/addons as well, so they'll be even less reliable in the near future.

The android boxes are only good for tv boxsets and movies imo, if you are trying to save.

Just do some googling mate, they are all pretty much similar.

If you want something cheap, cheerful, plug n play then a hacked firestick off ebay will do the job. If you want to save content (illegal obviously) then you'll need a more expensive android box with a HDD in it, or buy an external HDD. I wouldn't spend less than £100 on one of those though.

Yup, true for now, but be careful that loophole will be closed in the future.

I know your not and to be honest that reply just sums up what a good place this forum is;I've been away from the forum for quite a few years And been on many others that are just people looking for an argument.
Feels good to be back and still remember old users names that still post on the site

But back to the subject

I'm thinking of leaving sky now, last person I spoke to was a '****'.
But unfortunately I'm in a contract which dosent end till March ffs.
For my package I'm paying £79 pm but I get a 20% discount only on my tv package.

Just done a quick quote on BT tv and I can get everything I've got already for £45 pm as BT have a couple of discounts ATM, also the fibre is a LOT faster.
Anyone have any recommendations with BT?

I tried a Kodi installed Apple TV 4th gen and hated it. Not user friendly at all, but was sure I wanted to go the Apple TV route.

Sky TV with unlimited BB, phone and second up TV packaged for £62. Went for a 64gb Apple TV, £7.50 Netflix subscription, Disney Life subscription at £10 a month(not convinced I'm keeping this, but with 2 young kids...?) and came across IPTV as above, but as I'm not clued up too much, I paid for a months subscription to a 1600 channel playlist and it's perfect. Exactly what I wanted right at the start.

If you are looking for reliable tv and sports, sign up to an IPTV subscription - www.orbitiptv.net

Either then run via Kodi or on a SmartTV

On offer at €70/year it would have to be super reliable for that price, i bet a lot of the regular TV channels are at best only 720p too. I also suspect you will still suffer buffering on the popular channels.

Thought I'd bump this thread up...This is Smart IPTV app installed on an LG Smart TV using a paid sub....No Kodi, Android box or Firestick.
