Fix,sell,Break,store???My classic heartbreak :(

Sorry to hear this bud, was rooting for you it was a problem not related to rod knock
Hard choice, does the car hold value if stored, repaired and rebuilt etc, or sell and then buy another
hmmm, only you know if you have the time to fix it before it becomes a barn find lol

Think I will keep it,I love the car and even if I bought another then there's nothing to say that will last more than 6 month, plus I can't afford to.
I'm swaying more towards sticking it the garage, pulling the engine out and doing a leisurely build.
You never know, by the time it's rebuilt in 10 years time it might be worth double what I paid

Ah dam dude, so sorry to see this, you havnt had the best luck with other car stolen and now this.
Keep car and build yourself, the newage block is a good cheap option but can spiral once you start fitting parts like mine did lol.
I'm running newage block, currently at just over 2 bar.
But you've got most supporting mods so you're cool there.
Good luck whichever route you choose

You have been a great help,at least the heads are reshimmed now(although we got that calculations wrong on one of the exhaust valves RH head by 0.1mm)
The others were all good.
The original knock was still there on the LH side and all clearances were good plus cam carrier bolts torqued up ok.
As the knock was still there I just knew it was something more serious,a short trip down the street and the bottom end let go.
I will get those shims back to you on my next days off mate.

rebuild it mate -resale values dont mean diddly sqat to impreza owners-
even a cheap rebuild will reset the engine miles to zero, same as buying a factory fresh unit
. when i last looked theres not a single car i could own that gives me the same buzz that a modded impreza gives me , there too soft or too heavy or too expensive lol
