To be honest it could end up being taken a lot further than you would like, especially with the unquestionable evidence now in the public domain (easily enough for a conviction); so on second thought it's probably best not to go down that route if that's not what you want to see happen.

There was an incident on here a good few years ago where by a car was written off whilst being test driven in the wet after having work done at a Tuners....A big power Type R I think it was, I don't remember the outcome..

I can understand people getting upset. After all it is not just a car to a lot of us but a source of much pleasure and we get protective of them. We entrust them to these garages to sort them, not to rag the t1ts off it.

I also understand that the manager is doing what he can. However whilst that person is still employed I would not be taking my car there.

if the car needed to be tested at 70mph, take the car to a road with a 70mph limit, don't do it in a 30mph zone.

My car is remapped and 330bhp, my map was done on the road with me driving. I drove to a suitable 70mph road 15 minutes from my house, that also gave my car time to warm up correctly

I also drive like miss daisy

Gentlemen, something is amiss here and it ain't what I've been saying...

I think this post has run its course, I believe that I share the OP understanding that this is now somewhat concluded and we should all move on...

As I have said before, anyone who wants a chat, give me a call.. I have posted my personal details here enough... I am a Scoobie fan and a believer in the blog, I want to help but feel this is now counter productive and has not extolled either virtues of truth or honesty...

Best we all shake hands and move apart, I will of course be watching the post (as you all will) but I won't comment any more as I feel I have been misquoted and misconstrued enough...

I appreciate all you have given to this post but ask that you enjoy the ownership of a great car that has been the backbone of my family life for as long as I remember. I love the cars and love honesty in all its forms... I do not believe that this post has been the epitome of either...

Regards

What I and I think most have a problem with is 71 in a 30, and if my speedo and GPS is anything to go by it was probably reading closer to 80mph than 70mph on the speedo.

The other thing that was totally un-acceptable is the managers attitude towards the complaint from the customer, which was basically a shrug of the shoulders and now pay up for the pleasure of our tech ragging your car in a 30 zone and then using it to go to his home address.

Imo the service manager should and could of handled the situation (after all it's his job to manage) on the spot by a) taking the customers complaint seriously, b) putting the tech on the spot there and then and asking him what the bloody hell he was playing at doing 71 in a 30.

At which point the disciplinary procedure kicks into play, lado ends up with a written warning, and told any come back on the speeding is on you, customer gets a free service and probably thinks no more of it. And when he later finds out lado went home in the car he thinks ah well I got a free service.

Whole different ball game now, why because basic procedures and company policy that should have been in place, either wasn't in place or wasn't adhered to.

It's all well and good having a nice relaxed atmosphere at your place of work, but people need to know where the line is, especially in this day and age, this is an example of what a laxidaisical attitude, lack of professionalism and total dis-regard for customers and their property can escalate to.

And that's before any speeding tickets drop on the floor from the old bill.

I used to work for a bloke that was obsessed with procedures and risk assessments, we all thought it was a ball ache and he was a bit of a little Hitler, but when something went wrong, we all knew what to do.

Based on the above I am locking this thread for two reasons; Firstly the public discussion between OP and the person quoted above has ended, and from that no-online resolution is foreseeable. Secondly, pretty much all that needs to be said in terms of third party comments has been said and allowing futher comments would just be repeating what many users have already mentioned, and without any resolution this could run on and on without any progress and likely deteriorate into content that could pose risk to the forum from legal action..

If there was a conclusion and outcome to this dispute that I have missed, I'd appreciate if this could be made known to me or another mod, so we can either re-open the thread or post a comment on your behalf in the interests of making it publically known what the final outcome is.

Cheers.

That's not really surprising, is it?
I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but regardless of who was at fault, or who-did-what-to-whom, no self respecting proprietor is going to risk having his business dragged through the mud by inviting the perpetrator of said mud-dragging back to the fold is he?

Did you at least get a discount on the work you had done there just before the mechanic decided to rag your car to double the speed limit?

Edit: you answered the question as I was typing lol

So did they give you a full refund or refund labour only?

Your **** must be killing you, you have been properly shafted

Did you actually take the footage to the police or did you back down on that too?

If you are not welcome, why do them any favours by taking it lying down?

Maybe you feel that I have been soft but the car has gone now and have ordered a new one to draw a line under it...

All I have to say to everyone get a tracker and a dash cam as they are high power cars so would not like it to happen to others
