I fill up once per week and use V-power most of the time as the Shell garage is 1 mile from me, however use the 20p per litre from shopping once per month to fill up with Momentum. Have done this for a long time and can say that I do not notice any difference. If there was then I certainly would not compromise for a few £££.

My car is hatch STI with filter, exhaust and remap to around 325bhp.

My car was mapped and is run religiously on Tesco 99. There is one single reason that I do not use Shell.
Many shell garages are single operator owned, my mate the tanker driver (yes I have one too, I live very close to the old shell coryton refinery ) told me that he gets a nice bung from a particular garage owner when he mistakenly fills a tank with regular. A tesco forecourt manager gains nothing from doing the same.

I normally find Momentum equal to VPower but today I put 30 quid of Momentum in and saw 93 on the Phormula knock sensor - definitely det. had other readings in the 20's so it's either some duff Momentum or the forecourt tank's got regular in it!
I'll top it up with VPower and a dose of NF for good measure.
I certainly won't use the Tesco (Romford Gallows corner) for a few weeks to make sure the current batch has gone!

So there is one person here who actually has some proof of the car not running right due to fuel (We assume? Other factors can create knock and it could be nothing to do with the fuel again)

My car was mapped on shell 99, and i run it daily and race it on tesco 99, no difference at all, and the abuse i give it out on track and day to day at 517hp (99 map only) would suggest that if there was an issue and in my state of tune it should have became apparent.

Everywhere and anywhere can and does have dodgy batches of fuel etc, its not to say that all fuel from tescos or shell is dodgy. **** happens, people make mistakes etc. If you google "bad fuel at tescos" it will bring up hundreds of people complaining about fuel at tescos. The same for shell. It doesnt bring up how many millions of people use it every day for god knows how many years with no issues at all....

All this "my car runs $hit when using Shell" and "my car runs $hit when using '99" is total nonsense! Just add fuel and drive!

Yes after like 25-30k miles of constant abuse lol....

And I can 150% guarantee you that was nothing to do with fuel what so ever, more like over stretching the spec of the engine with regards to the fact that it was still an open deck block running 560+hp, the rods and pistons were of an old and known flawed design..... The gudgeon pins were sub standard nd not up to the job of running the power we ut through it and one actually deformed and cracked the piston skirt.

It was a small end failure, and the engine didnt "let go" it was driven to engine tuner to investigate a tapping noise
