On another note Chris, I saw a wide-bodied AMG Merc coupe in my village the other day and thought of you. Typically iphone was MIA so no photos! It looked like a V12 and was utterly awesome. Not my bag, but I appreciate a good custom when I see one. Basically looked like yours on steroids. Black, wide arches and whopper stoppers. AMG but with a ton of lettering after it. Could have been his lawyer credentials for all I know. Certainly growled.....

Sounds like an SL65 Black Series. If it was a genuine one (and the whopper stoppers mean it probably was) then that is worth a ton of money. Nice car

If you see it again get a snap as there are very few in the UK.

I'm almost there. Walls have just had an undercoat and a few bits left to sort out.

Looking good.

On the large island, I assume the big cut-out is for a hob - what's the smaller one for?

The big cut out on the left hand island is for the hob and the smaller cut out is for a bbq thing of some kind. The cut out on the right island is for the sink.

There's another wall run of units that you can't see in the pic.

Looking forward to some colour going on the walls as it looks like a lab at the moment

Your not getting fragile in your old age are you.

I'd like to see it as well from a fellow DIYers point of view, promise I won't judge you the glass thing is interesting too, befor and after shots would be nice so I can see what you've been up to.

been away working in Saudi Arabia for the last 6 weeks so have not had a chance to update whats been happening with my kitchen

got back on thursday from the middle east and went into B&Q to have a look at their kitchens LOL
seen the cook and lewis cream gloss kitchen and pulled out one of their under hob big drawers then I pushed it closed expecting the soft close feature to work LOL
how wrong was I it slammed shut and the whole drawer fell to pieces with the drawer
front falling off and banging off the floor,,, the wifes face just dropped with a look of panic on it ha ha ha

then asked how much it was going to cost with solid quartz worktops
fecking 16K without any appliances PMSL
cheap build quality and in general just poor quality as when I looked at how the
solid Quarts worktops were joined up they not even lined up on the show kitchen in the store LMAO
needless to say I walked away

I had a visit into Wren Kitchens and was very impressed with the kitchens in there.
we designed our kitchen with one of the designers and it is fantastic really happy with it
the quality of the kitchen that we seen was fantastic and all the soft closing mechanisms worked and was of a high standard
and for the full kitchen with solid Quartz worktops and with most appliances included
like slimline built in under counter wine cooler, integrated dish washer and tumble drier
in built double oven and a ultra smart five burner gas hob and hood extractor and also a super cool sink and fancy tap
came in at 13.5K fully fitted
Needless to say I am extremely happy with wren kitchens
so we have gone ahead with it so should be starting to fit the kitchen on the 13th April
will need to have some extra stuff done from there fitter which wren kitchens said will cost us a bit more like knocking down our non supporting wall between our kitchen and livingroom and going open plan
and moving our boiler from one wall to another and replastering the roof in both rooms
so will cost a little bit more but even then this kitchen is still coming in a fair bit under our original amount that we put to the side for the kitchen

Here is a video I am basing our kitchen on as it is very similar to our kitchen in terms of size except our kitchen is a bit wider than this so the worktops will be bigger in terms of from the wall to the edge of the worktop.
same style of worktops we have chosen with the black with a little bit of sparkle solid quartz.
in the video the wooden style cupboard doors on the right are of a wood effect but for our kitchen we have chosen gloss black for them and our kitchen doors are not handles like in this video as we have went for solid chunky metal door handles

Both gloss white and also gloss black

Very similar as the kitchen in the video mate
White gloss for under the worktops and the wall mounted cupboards.
Then on the right of the kitchen in the video you see
Massive cupboards with a wood effect doors and the oven inbuilt
We are going for a black gloss for those cupboards.

Your kitchen is starting to look very smart mate

Hi Nizmo, not sure how much of this thread you've read, but did you see my post and pictures? Mines from Wren .

Edit: Just seen that yes you did reply. My white gloss is the 'autograph gloss' range.

Well the kitchen is perfect to be honest. Even though it's their "lower middle range" stuff, it still has that high end appearance. At the end of the day, they're just wooden carcasses so not much can go wrong really. We sourced our own fitter (a chap who did my Fathers kitchen) so I can't comment on their fitter. I designed the kitchen myself so when I went into the store to go through the plan with a designer, they didn't really have to do much because I knew what I wanted. The designer did come out though to visit my house to take accurate measurements and tweaked the plan to make sure it all fit.

Delivery was fine and everything was correct as to the plan, but when fitting the kitchen, one unit was 150mm short (can't remember exactly but the designer had put in a 450mm unit when it should have been a 600mm) despite him coming out to take accurate real measurements. I had to pay extra for the 600mm unit despite it being the designers fault and I couldn't argue this case because there's something in the paperwork when you sign that everything, including Wren's taken measurements should be checked by your fitter.

Other than that, it's all good and I'd give them a 7.5/10 based on that above slight issue. You'd think spending a large amount of money with them they would have let me exchange the unit but they don't take anything back. I like Wren kitchens because they are good value and all proper solid carcasses with proper backs to them, plus soft close as standard. There's also a lot of choice when it comes to their storage solutions. I love all the soft close drawers I have and I defiantly recommend a massive cutulery tray.

I was the same I went into the store and knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it, the designer asked if I had done this before because I had planned everything so well on how the kitchen was going to look
and when he came round for the quick measure up everything I had done was bang on.
the whole design stage took around 1 hour and a half to do

Yea I have went for soft close on everything as its really nice feature to have.
I have went for the massive cuttlery drawer as well
it is going to be under the gas hob as it has two long drawers with soft close
then you pull out the top drawer and then behind that there is the massive cuttlery drawer with tray that pulls out

if you had used their fitter they might of done a exchange possibly
but agree if it was their designers fault they should of rectified their mistake

I am having two kitchens fitted in my rental properties, one will be £7K +fitting. The other will cost £3k + fitting. . The only real difference are the small details like kidney corner units and a better work tops And a wine rack! Kitchens can make or break the feel of a house.

The best bit of advice is get an a top quality carpenter to fit it. A well fitted kitchen even on a cheaper kitchen can make whole lot of difference.

That's very true. I've seen that advice before as well. Nothing worse than a shabby fitted kitchen! It works the other way round too. If you have an expensive high end kitchen fitted by a DIY handy man, it can end up looking crap, regardless on how much you've spent on the actual kitchen.
