Focus RS Vs Classic STI
Oh dear, only advantage with them is their a bit lighter, and not many pad choices.
Stick some rc6 pads in Brembos and its night and day. Also pads like pagid rs, carbotech.
The endless pads are coming to my attention too now but limited on what cars they fit. More for super cars.

The ds2500 are not really an amazing set up (common pad deposits and you need to stamp hard to get a good bite)
If I had intended to use the car solely on the road I would have happily stayed with the brembos, but brembos do have a limit on track as do the Ks, but the K sport brakes have a higher limit.
K sports are no lighter with 355mm discs.

Got to love these threads
Its nice having a blast but as a comparison lets look at some figures (ive used the P1 as its a UK car and has the same power as all v5 STI's)
http://www.torquestats.com/index.php?car_id=196
v the RS
http://www.torquestats.com/index.php?car_id=600
Note in gear times and 60-100 times, this denotes which one is the quicker car, 0-60 will always be a 4/AWD over a FWD.

thats why i asked you and not moobs, someone with proper experienc of both set ups
id agree with what you say totally though.
exactly the same on the road but dont fade when hot so therefore probably a touch better

I don't see any reason to be disappointed. I have PF-Z pads fitted and they are fantastic. I run AD08 tyres on track and that combination with the brakes will pull your face off, not a case of 'Oh dear' in any respect. If I had AP Racing brakes no one would question it. Of course they aren't the same as AP's, but then they aren't the same price as AP's either

I don't agree that the Brembos have their limits on track as I had pushed them so hard at cadwell non stop for nearly an hour with rc6 pads and they were still working well from when I first started, my tyres melted before any sign of fade.
But indeed the benefit is weight as the Brembos do weigh a bit.
The ap of course are top dog if you have the money to spend for the ace looks under the wheels and capabilities.
They will only fade when the pad hits the limit though (hence fitting a pad that goes beyond that limit)
TBH when I first fitted them I thought I had wasted a pile of money as they didn't feel any better on the road than the brembos. But as said on track they are appreciably better imho.
thats the thing moobs im not a sheep ill buy it and try it, if its crap it goes in the bin.
had bcs ........crap
had xxr 527s......crap
both sh1te in MY OPINION having had them and got rid.
ksport/d2 are fine and do the job intended if not they would have gone the same route as the bcs and xxrs

Xxrs, agree, you cottoned on quickly with them

I'll await when you have a fault with the KS before you mock them too
and didn't you buy KS because of the helicoil problem on Brembos?P.s I'm not mocking the KS, I'm just winding you up as I know you love it.

You loved your bc's for ages iirc before you realised. (P.s what suspension are you running now?)

i bought the xxrs before they became everywhere, hated them instantly and sold soon after, cheap nasty made ill fitting crap.
i dont have ks mine are the d2 ones and have been on 2 years now and without a single issue so much so i now have the 6 pot rears too match.
if i had a problem like i did with the bcs id bin them and tell people of my experiences not just spout stuff ive read somewhere

the brakes work just as well on the road as brembos but are lighter and have the added advantage that you can take them off without the bolts snapping and requiring a helicoil.

Lol, my scariest moment was, driving my blob wagon with the 335 kit with ds2500s on a spirited drive (well probably harder) over strines, snake pass and up Holme moss and down again (some of you will know coming down from Holme moss there is some bad bends downhill) where I nearly killed myself, had to bang down gears hard with help from hand brake to avoid coming off.
I've just had a look back in my records and found out I have had my BCs since 2009. As per the K sports they perhaps aren't the best on the market, but I wouldn't go back to standard suspension. They are a little harder on the road than standard but I like the flexibility in settings for track use, and I don't have any knocking issues.

the issues with the bcs was knocking and too harsh for the road, ok when new and fell apart after a year.

I havnt mocked the bc's/d2s anywhere on this thread.
Tbh, I don't mind hard suspension as long as it performs well. For a daily I can understand some people get fed up of that.
I was offered a set of 330 AP's for £1400, but the 355 K sports came along at £550 and as I wasn't short of a thing or two to spend money on at the time you can guess which way I went
No doubting AP's quality though.
