Vasquez would be one of those opportunist ***** in the locker room showers that you'd regret for the rest of your career.

It's not all about BHP, a 2.0 WRC car is no more than 350bhp and 0-60 on tarmac is under 3.0 secs and about 1200kg It's torque that does the job.

Exactly and they only cost about £300,000 right? :-)

Torque, transmission and properly aggressive anti lag/launch control.

Transmission plays a huge part, with flat shift etc.
It would be interesting to compare a lower powered car with good spool and torque v's a 600bhp big turbo car from 0-60. From 30-50 or 50-70 a would think it would be alot better, but 0-60 is a differnt thing.

Wasn't John Felstead once running around 380bhp, but over 500ftlb of torque?

Also a new M sport Fiesta is £400k

You can have too much torque v grip for a 0-60 too, Arf's old 700 bhp+ STI ran at York a few weeks back and I was posting quicker take-offs with less than half the power as his was spinning in the first 3 gears. (my quickest 0-60 foot 1.88 Arf's old car 1.98) I was only 0.9secs from him at the 200m 1/8 mark. At this point though I was doing 85mph and he 105mph

I think I could have got my 0-60 down well below 4secs too if I'd parked in line before the last run and not in a muddy field. ...and JGlanza, MickeyWRX and Fat-Thomas say I launched like a decrepit grandad or words to that effect.

TBH I have been to the drag races 3 times with a different level of tune each time. 0-60 was recorded on the first two visits - with 280/250 I recorded a 0-60 of 5.5 secs, with 295/260 I recorded a 4.5 secs and a few weeks back the timing for 0-60 wasn't available but with 333/307 I'm guessing bang on 4 secs.

Mine X57, Arf's Old car X444

Quickest legit reaction of the day too - ultimate badass!

Love the way Big Arf's old car sounds, the Turbo on mine is silent. ...and yes Thomas you can hear a Turbo spool from 40 yards away.

Silent power

Probably 3.8 and 3.8 unless you get wider wheels. Then 3.5

Not if I had better tyres and wasn't dumb enough to park in thick mud before a run. Reaction times just let you know your (mine in this case) lack of brains isn't down to going senile. How do you know 1.740 isn't your reaction?

Hey Micky check this out - http://subaru.co.uk/news/new-coswort...eza-sti-cs400/

0-60 3.7 secs and a 1/4 of 12.75 Terminal 107mph

Does his hint that our 0-60's are sub 4 secs?

My 1/4 is 12.68 with terminal of 104mph. Surely that means I'm making the time up in the 0-60 region??? Can I seriously be hitting 3.6secs in a WRX PPP?

I "think" Straightliners record the 60'. I'll ask.

Dunno if it hint's that they are, I wouldn't like to say. All I know is that I can do over 50mph, indicated, in my car in 2nd gear at around 5.5/6K rpm.

It'd be nice to know, I've just posted the query on a more technically minded Subaru site.

I may have mentioned it above but I know when I got 0-60's timed at York I did 5.5 secs with 280/270 then 4.5 secs with 295/265. Ran with 333/307 last time but the 0-60 timing feature wasn't available. Logic states with an even bigger step up in power/torque I'd knock another second off.

Getting some varied times on the 0-60 calculators. Most common result still points to my original claim of 4 secs flat though :/

3.97 secs - http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/foru...d.php?t=111200
3.99 secs - http://www.wallaceracing.com/0-60_equation.php
4.02 secs - http://www.assassinracing.com/tech/0-60calc.html

With a heat soaked engine you will lose a lot of the top end (higher speed) power. How long between runs was the wait and did you use ice to cool the engine? Heat soak won't affect the first 1/8th as much as the last 1/8th.
Ahh!

Wondered why I always started off with a 14.1 @110 then finished with a 12.9 @102 etc, it's driven me mad for yonks.

Sorry for the spam but using this reasonably accurate chart Andy is clocking a 0-60 of 1.47 secs.

It does estimate his 142.5 mph 1/8 at 146 mph though. So circa 1.50 secs maybe a truer time.

Rob
Last years spec I had 473BHP and 540ftlb at 2BAR on Surrey Rolling Road's rollers.

This year I have a slightly different spec Twin Scroll turbo built by Owen Developments again. I haven't had it on SRR yet but I would expect based on the info I have that it will be about 485BHP and 510lbft when put on their rollers, but I am only running 1.8BAR at peak torque and 1.55BAR at Peak Power to produce that.

Owen now offer a stock position GT35 size turbo, which is what Graeme from Whiteline and Fred had on their cars in the sprint series this year. They are producing at least 180BHP more than I have.
