Well done John,

I had a chance of a beaut STI V5 RA V.ltd before I got the P1 - 2.2 turns lock to lock steering rack is fantastic - the only other scooby to have it is the 22b - so you will feel at home there

The gearing is exactly the same as a V5 Type R - its basically ace.
The other thing is it has the larger rear calipers of the Type R too.

You'll love it mate

Ian

Now - help me sell my P1 so I can get the oil burner sorted out

John,

Car looks great . It took the best part of 6 months to find my Terzo, eventually flying up to Scotland to buy it (thank god for Ryanair!!)Previously I had travelled to Leicester from London (having taken a half day off from work) to find that the car had 45000 miles on the clock MORE than had been advertised. Like you I was not best please, patience is a virtue and all I can say is that the wait means the result is even better.

Drive carefully and ENJOY!!!

Ed.

Hiya John!

Glad to see you got a scoob in the end and as for me asking in the email if it was sonic blue, silly question really but if you want to try Liverpool Victoria for insurance (i have one 50/50 on mine and my car is modified and im paying 1032 quid all in protected ) you may get around the same price (no tracker required either!!)

Congrats John I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine.

I have one of 280PS low powered WRX Type RA (non STI) but sadly it aint stripped out . They made a few kitted up specials with full spec including electrics (mirrors, all windows and folding mirrors), abs, STI wheels (now on 18's), air con, spoiler (STI4), sonic blue dash and console, STI pedal extensions and blue alcantara SWRT special edition bucket seats . A very strange car with a strange spec but thats half the fun .

The car does have the light blue STi seats, it didnt have a radio as standard and has an aftermarket one. No sign of a titanium gear **** though. It also has a dash mounted plaque with limited edition on it, but i thought all the RA's had that? I am hopeless at telling the models apart, show me the engine in bits and thats a diferent story though.

When i test drove it i did say it felt just like the 22B. It is definately lower geared than i remember the 22B being, but the last one i drove was a type UK so maybe the Japanese spec one of richards is that low, i dont think so though? I usually have a good memory for car feel, but it is well over 18 months since i last drove a japanese spec 22B.

I plan on taking the car to the ring in a couple of weeks and then to the scoobynet doo's too. One of the reasons i was buying a Turbo was to use the car more at the ring as i have no plans to replace the westie right now. It made more sense to have a scoob turbo than a westie as i dont plan on using it on UK tracks, the ring is more like a fast country road really, it's not as hard on the car as a UK track.

I worked out that the fastest point on the ring was 153MPH in the westie, the RA is just about capable of that so should be fine as i doubt i'll be going as quickly down the foxhole as i was in the westie. I wont be pushing the car anywhere near it's limits either as it's my daily driver and i want to take good care of it and make sure it's kept in great condition.

Sounds like i have a great car. I am totally exhausted today though. I just said goodbye to my Sport too, i hope Andy enjoys the car as much as i did, it is a cracking car.

Similar seats but they have STi where you have the subaru stars. I also have the two buttons for the Intercooler sprays next to the fog light switch. The steering and main dash is the same but i dont have the alloy pedals (i think). I cant remember if the centre console is blue surounded? I am crap i know.

Should be Saturday if all things work out as planned, just having a couple of small jobs done prior to collecting it. I am an impatient bugger at the best of times so this is going to be agony.

How much did you get for your Sport, if you don't mind me asking? It was a '97 'P' IIRC?

Joey,
the service history is what John wanted and the car he has will have full service history (ie every 6 months) and warranty co's probably wont cover you if you dont have fsh etc and as has been said before, if the right car turns up then buy it

Joey, a UK car would trade at a premium for it's warranty, the RA ltd is a whole lot more car for probably the same or less money than an RB5.
Good on you John, just what you needed, more power LOL

Joey, If you read what i posted, you will see i said i either buy a car with full waranty and in top condition, or i buy one for less money and have some in the bank to cover me.

I am buying the STi for £2K less than the RB5 was going to cost me so it makes sense to me financially to do this. Not that this was any of your business.

Once again you are missing the point of my post, which was that firstly i was seriously let down by a seller after 3 weeks worth of discusions and a 200 miles drive, and secondly that the car wasnt as described re the service history. If you cant see that then i give up.

For what it's worth I have a letter on my kitchen table at home from the official Subaru dealer offering me a warrenty extension on the RB5. Which I will be taking out for the benefit of the person buying my car.

The RA looks good John.

Johnfelstead,

Firstly I realise it has absolutely nothing to do with me in the slightest but I do have to feel sorry for the two people you are slagging off in this thread.

Seamus300 obviously had no idea that the service history was not full as it had been serviced on mileage not time and as for the marks and scratches they didn't actually look too bad in the photo. I am certain "immaculate" second hand cars at Subaru dealerships have far worse damage that is sorted out before they put the car on their forecourt.

As for the other guy who sold the car before you got there well I really don't see your problem. He had a buyer offering him the full asking price so is he really going to turn it down on the offchance that you might want to buy it??

Seamus300, good luck with the sale and it looks like someone should get a bargain.

Thanks JD, although I would like it acknowledged John wasn't slagging me off. The car is definately a bargain though.

Nimbus, I'm always happy, been Gliding lately?!

Cheers, Sean

Managed to go a few weeks ago. Since then it's either been poor weather or no time. Done any flying yourself? It wasn't you buzzing over our village at the weekend was it? One guy was only about 500ft...

I am glad i wont ever buy from you Joey, as you have a warped sense of being fair if you cant see the issues with the MY00.

As to slagging sean off, i didnt, i didnt mention his name, i said he was a good, genuine guy even before anyone knew who he was. I didnt want this to get into a personal slanging match which is why i didnt mention either person. I just wanted to discuss my experience and how it made me feel so that maybe when someone else is getting themseleves into a similar position they might think twice about how to handle the sale.

It could have been me, I was low altitude training on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was North of Northampton and over your neck of the woods on Saturday morning around 9-10am. Great weekend for it and for Gliding, saw several up on Saturday as well as two airships!
