The trouble with a lot of cars in this category is that you can't use them to anywhere near their potential on the road. This, I fear, would make them rather dull to drive.
They also give their owners a false sense of self importance. It's just a car.
If this is the case why don't you have a fiat panda??

Because I don't want one tubby. The missus uses the WRX as a daily, when I drive it, as it is only a lowly WRX, far far easier to take it to its limits than it would ever be in a GTR.

Danger is part of the fun, you wouldn't see all these base jumpers and tightrope walkers doing what they do if there wasn't an element of risk.
I know what you mean though, having spent years riding motorcycles day in day out come rain or shine (and snow).

Even funnier, those boasting of being quicker than motorcycles 750cc or less.
Oh the fun they must have, in their boring gadget controlled datsuns. Bet few of them realise that riding one is probably ten times more exciting than what they are experiencing.
Why wouldn't it race a rs7,thats not a slow car,gtr probably got scared it'll lose If an old corsa with a 2.0ltr dropped in it pulled up next to me,its worth a race, because its gonna be alot faster than a standard one. So no different to a tuned subaru etc racing a gtr,the gtr should want to prove its superiority!

as i said before it was all done correctly, max bhp a wrx can run safely is around mid 350s bhp as the box and engine cannot take anymore.

this is not a fast impreza and given the extra weight of the estate car i can only imagine it being even worse.

Not liking them doesn't make them slow. And while not my cup of tea, you only think they're dull because you've read it on the Internet.

Read my comments again, I did not say I think they are slow. Far from it, which is why in my opinion it would be quite a dull car to live with on a daily basis.

I'm not arguing if they are a great car or not, I just personally prefer to change gear the old fashioned way, have mechanical steering, and I have a brain that is attached to my foot, so I am quite happy to use that to control the throttle rather than a host of electronic gizmos.

I just wonder how much enjoyment people actually get from driving one on the road. As a track car maybe, but then I would rather have a caterham.

I could say the same about the wrx wagon, just because some people don't like them, doesn't make them slow, especially tuned.
Im not sure if the gtr is dull but from what i can tell, the drivers are!

Yes we all love analogue cars but that is not relevant to the point that a mildly tuned up WRX is NOT anywhere NEAR as quick as a GTR. Or, in fact, an A45. Or even my car (which is RWD, six pot and therefore MORE FUN )

^ Exactly and one of the main reasons yours would nuke his wagon and mine probably are their clever flappy paddle gearboxes. Whether its more fun or involving flicking some paddles or just leaving it in auto and mashing the throttle though is a matter of opinion and choice Personally i find it dull and will always have a manual box.

Would say slightly more than mildly tuned! Its more than an exhaust and filter
