I don't know what car/power you have but unless you have been up against the same cars as me,in the same scenario, you don't know if you'd beat or stay with them.maybe you would too

Consider that even a standard GTR will accelerate by about 10mph during a 0-60 in the 0.5 seconds that it takes a good Subaru driver to change gear.

Having tuned many 320 BHP Subarus, there is not a hope in hell for the Subaru, sorry.
i never said me and the gtr accelerated hard in 1st but when in 2nd gear from about 20-25mph we both toed it and about 50mph i had to brake to avoid hitting him from behind[/QUOTE]

Ah, thought you meant without launch control.
I don't need to consider anything, read the last part of my post, and don't apologise, I'm under no illusions.

Thanks for the info. I think these are now my new target car to own, shame you cant get a manual for comparison but I suspect the gearbox has a lot to do with what makes it so great as with many of the new cars.

20-50mph in 2nd gear then...

VR38 with twin turbos and the very definition of instatorque and epic traction is going to pull 1g of acceleration when you do that.

Driver error, misunderstanding, apples with oranges, but go and do that to a GTR in 2nd gear and tell me you are serious.

I did mean without launch control and it seems the Subaru owner is talking about punching it in 2nd gear. How did he know what gear the GTR was in and how much throttle he used anyway?

The figure banded about by people regarding WRX PPP is 4.8 seconds to sixty.
I get that bigger turbo = more lag, but the STI has bigger turbo and isn't that about the same with PPP fitted, with an extra gear change thrown in to the mix. So yes regarding a 320 brake WRX, I do believe 4.5 isn't in the realms of fantasy.

If relying on datalogs rather than listening to another car makes me thick then I will remain thick. The reality is if you'd been in an R35 GTR punched in 2nd we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Why are we talking about launched 0-60 times when the discussion is around a rolling start?

Do you think I'm wet behind the ears about Subarus or something?

Well just to add some balance from an old WRX shed owner, mine has PPP and I'm under no illusions about it's performance, my old 04 mapped WRX (paul Blamere who said he was amazed by it) was however one of those cars that defies all the stats, I was behind an M3 in Germany when we both gunned it expecting to be left yet at circa 160mph on my clock I was flashing him to move out of the way, this car would go off the clock at will, never taken my current one above about 130mph it's my daily and I don't want to break it, when I've finished my £3k 650bhp capable forged build I'll be posting my findings.

Whoa hold on there bud. Banksy came out with a comment, to which I offered a differing opinion. He then said do I think it would do 4.5 to 60? Note the question mark, which I took to mean that it was a question! To which I gave my answer to, then was told by the person that asked the question why we were discussing it!
And then get accused of troll posting! . . . . Really!

M135i, 320bhp, 340lbs-ft.

A 545i is slower than an S5. And S5 is slower than an R8.

I've only had a proper "run" with a V8 Vantage and we were totally matched fairly tight, rural road). I'm pretty certain I'd match or beat an S5 but not a well driven R8.

The r8 was the v8 though not the v10. This shouldn't be too hard for you to believe if you've had similar experiences yourself!?

I've pushed an e46 m3 in my 95wrx unmapped wagon uphill. I was on his bumper at 100mph but couldn't over take because it was two way traffic

I've done 160mph in this one but the wheel arches were getting noisy and didn't want them to tear out.also the windows started to pull out at the top. I was only at around 6000rpm so another 1000rpm to go and it felt like it was still pulling. I would guess it would do 175mph if i had the road to do it and my bravery badge. I wouldn't want a blow out

My E46 M3 was easily overtaken by a 340HP MY00 UK turbo once it could hang onto a tall gear, but the M3 had the edge at lower speeds off a roundabout even though it was RWD and he was flatshifting the Subaru.

Doubt you would achieve 175 jimbob, I've had 150 on the speedo (own private runway of course) and from memory pretty sure that was at 6000rpm. It was still pulling and felt like it had another 10 mile per hour left in it but at those speeds the speedo is going to way over read, so my guess is your speedo reading of 160 at 6000rpm was waaaay off.
Or your just on crack

P.s at that speedo reading there was no drama, misses rowdy was even applying some lippy in the passenger seat.

P.p.s sorry buyakasha

My wagon was standard except exhaust and air filter. We never went round any turns or roundabouts, just straight line from about 30mph to 100-110mph and he wasn't going anywhere

Well I've done 160,which is only 10 more than you. Maybe we have different wheel size or maybe my car uses its power better than yours. I will never actually be able to see whats its capable of because the speedo only goes to 160mph but I've maxed that already

Well standard WRX 225bhp is capable of 143mph so I don't think 160mph is in the realms of fantasy, especially since my old mapped one would do the clock and still pulling.
