Hmmmm. Not sure if I should feel happy for you or not really. Gutted that you've got to fork out yet again for this.

Still can't see this being your fault at all.

I am going to post this as its relevant experience with WMS .

I had a short engine ( tight budget build Jan 2015 ) using S/H sti pistons which was well documented photo'd by Andy , see below pictures.
" Hi, The block has been cleaned and honed, the clearances are set to 0.05mm. Regards Andy "

Never the less it failed on all 4 cylinders thru piston expansion with the pistons scuffing the walls after 5k miles, This occured on a high speed run after just 10 min warm up period from -5 deg C , clearly this is something that I have to learn not to do as well, however I wrote to him mentioning this , looking for another replacement (not requesting a discount ) however received no reply. I decided not to pursue it.

I personally think that he does a fair job for the money, but needs to consider that we may be able to help on the next build and he can learn from our experience. I open for his critic if when he answers and wishes.

I have subsequently ordered and fitted a short block with WRX pistons from Ashley Wilks. And I am very happy with that short block.

Still haven't got the engine back. His response is he's "snowed under with work", so he's essentially prioritising new customers over existing basically. He has everything to put it back together as far as I know, new 100mm JE Pistons have arrived etc.

Considering the bore diameter involved here
I'd be asking for a feeler gauge check on the Ring gaps as well.

Surely you wouldn't build an engine without checking and adjusting the ring gaps anyhow?

after my experience I'd want a photo with a feeler gauge for my peace of mind.

It's gone from a 99.75 bore to a 100mm bore (from 2469cc to 2482cc) so map should be fine for running it in. But once it's run in I'll get the map checked. Running an Alcatek ECU also.

Still waiting for the engine to show up, was supposed to arrive the end of last week, i.e a week ago and nothing has appeared.

It's apparently with the courier who is supposed to be calling me to arrange delivery but I've heard nothing and I'm also concerned as to how the engine would be stored, obviously it's only just been repaired due to water damage and it could be sat anywhere for all I know!
