Block is stripped and wrapped up on a pallet ready to go. Turbo looks absolutely perfect so that's good at least

I managed to do more damage to myself though , as I was pulling the lower coolant hose off of the turbo I managed to break the middle finger on my left hand . It got caught up in the hose as it came off and span it round 180 degrees.

Agree with BPR, you aren’t having much luck bud! Is your car called Christine by any chance?

Engine was collected today. Should be back at WMS tomorrow. I did notice the block was a 704 Casting and I've heard stories of them not being cast well.

One bit of good luck is I've just had a refund from Mishimoto land in my paypal account for their ****ty tank! I only got the refund by saying the car was popular online and gets loads of views (I was obviously lying lol), they weren't interested before I mentioned that. After that they couldn't have tried harder

Got a standard Newage metal tank on the way for it / when it goes back on the road.

To be honest, you're better off with a later plastic type as fitted to the hawkeye as they tend to last longer and don't cause heat soak into the inlet as badly as the metal versions.

Was only £20 delivered and looked in good condition so it'll do for now

Maybe, depends what WMS comes back with, engine was delivered there yesterday. That header tank at £20 was just too cheap to pass up

I suppose it's going to be impossible to give WMS the middle finger now it's pointing the wrong way?

I didn't break it in the end, just dislocated it, the end knuckle separated and span round then back again. Still hurt like hell .

It would be nice to have it back on the road, the turbo is perfect and it should make a bit more power attached to a good engine

Still got a lot of parts to get though, exhaust gaskets, intake gaskets, water crossover o-rings, need a new release bearing for the clutch too as it got a bit chewed when the engine came out, bell housing studs need changing also. And I also need a new EV4 pigtail for one of the injectors as the wires got pulled out of the plug when the engine was lifted . Oh and needs power steering fluid as it decided to **** out all over the place.

I'd like to get a 3" turbo inlet with no take offs on it too as it would fit a lot better and was also thinking of doing inlet spacers to give it more room also.

Nothing yet, don't know if no news is good news or he just hasn't got around to looking at it yet. He asked for it to be delivered last Thursday which it was. I'd assume if he thinks the fault was with me he'd let me know pretty quickly. I'll see if I hear anything this week, if not I'll chase it up.

Just had an update from Andy, he says that the machinist and himself believe the damage appears to have been caused by damp, but the depth of the damage seems strange and that they both agree it's unusual. He says he's going to strip the block and see if it'll come out with a re-bore essentially (I doubt it).

I'll be prepared to bet that doesn't come out with a re-bore too. No chance.

Fair enough it's caused by damp, but when? Seriously doubt that happened from it sitting stored correctly in your garage for a couple of weeks.

I can't see how 'damp' could cause such a localised and deeply penetrating rust spot in the time scale your talking about. I bet you could leave a large droplet of water on a steel liner for several months and only cause surface rust. The damage from your pic looks like a defect in the liner that should of been noticed when the engine was machined/built.
