@scoobyskool, that is some pretty poor driving :L

 

My only issue with all these hot hatches is lag. If I had to have a hot hatch the BMW would be the one for me as the lag is much less. Anything with a 4 cyl is quite painful around town IME - and that's where I do most of my driving. Once you get them on the open road and spin the turbo they are mega though - so its horses for courses.

As for lauch control - always amazes me how good these twin clutch cars are - but why make the process so long? Porsche have it right, press Sport+, turn off TC and that's it - will enable every time you stop and put more than about 40% into the brakes.

 

I personally just don't like RWD I lived with it for just over a year and it wasn't for me, as the tyres wore down, not much mind, the traction was just crap.

However when I test drove the M135 it was much nicer, though I bet with a few mm less on the rear the car will become hard work.

I personally don't need hardwork or traction lights flashing I want point and shoot, and without a doubt Subaru offer you that, the benefit of a Subaru is manual being able to ride the clutch to catapult yourself out from a roundabout, even in the merc so far I still don't feel in control when I'm pulling out like you do when you've got the clutch under control.

It's like all autos feels a but spongy, but this is me learning to drive it I,ll get there.

That's pretty much how you activate LC on ours; just press the brake too.

 

LC seems a total waste of time, outside of some timed run at a santa pod type venue

I NEVER used it in all three and a half years of my M5 ownership. I don't think I'll use it on the C63, perhaps I'm just a wuss.

They just added it to M135is with the 8 speed auto (which we have) from July 2013 - it doesn't cost any more.

I might have a go one day but it's not exactly a must have feature.

Just done the auto park thing, very unnerving when the steering wheels goes off on one by itself,,,, but perfect execution impressive ****.

 

It looks great Ted. Nice clean lines ans very unfussy. The red calipers work well with the body being red and I do like the wheels, they really suit the car. As said before the wing is not to my taste, but that's just me. All in all a very tidy package

And just a small issue but iam jealous so will it will make me feel better the 4matic badge looks like it should be on a eco diesel.

 

I chose to have the 4matic it's a tick able option, just so I've got it, I will in time prob remove it.

 

It looks really mean and aggressive from behind and I love that look. IMO the spoiler suits it well and I think it finishes it off well. Remove that 4matic badge ASAP though, please? As above, it looks like it belongs on some eco-diesel car it was the first thing I noticed. Also what lettering is that on the side by the side repeater? If I were you, I'd get those wheels and callipers properly sealed with a decent product (poor boys wheel sealant) to keep them looking nice, glossy and cleaner for longer.

 

The side lettering is amg turbo badge, the cars being sealed wc26th using polish angel cosmic 9hr paintwork , wheels and internals, takes him 2 to 3 days..

 

Rear end good apart from the derv lettering don't like the side profile very much, but wheres the front end shots?

 

I got PS3s on std rims with mine last month. Seems a bit random as to what tyres are in the parts bin during the build.
Did you get it in the garage? Its pretty wide for a hatchback.

I sill haven't tried the auto park, I can't get the little arrow to spot the space.

 

I hope you take it easy with the gravel, those elastic bands on the wheels don't look as though they'll absorb anything at all!

 

Especially Run Flats! I'm amazed they use them on such a high performance car. Definitely can't beat Michelin Pilot SuperSports - once the Dunlops wear out, I seriously recommend them. Pretty much all the top end cars have them (and mine as well) - superb tyres.
My near three tonne camper also has Dunlops Sports as standard. Sort of spoils the brand as a performance one a bit for me!

As for your parking dont let it spot it as long as P is displayed its looking, Just test it like me, Basically drive up alongside a line or cars till you spot a hole, go past it, select reverse and it will then ask you, press ok and close ya eyes LOL, you do the throttle, and it will park it perfectly, Look at rear parking sensor just so your aware of how close u are, but that's it...

Been thinking about this launch control malarkey!

As much as some see it as a gimmick I would love launch control in mine. At the minute I just bury my right foot and let ESP do its thing but it's not proper launch control and with the 55K engine it would be epic LOL!

 

not done it yet, even though ive broken the 85MPH and 4500 run in rule I wont launch till shes done her 1000

Are you pleased with it then? It definitely looks a lot more "special" and bespoke than my uber subtle shopping hatch. I like to be subtle but I can see the appeal of the Merc - it looks like it wants to bite someone's head off.

Ford tried aggressive with the mk2 RS and failed IMO - I reckon yours succeeds.

 

Yeah Matte loving it, obviously honey period at the moment, as for speed its very weird, you boot it and it flys, then just as youd think its all over another smack in the back. So how do twinscroll turbos work, is it like a twin turbo effect ?

But once in the zone its manic, Had a lot of very nice comments from people who either pull up to me at lights, or when im parked up. I videoed the rear of my car yesterday on a 2hr drive, and I could see peoples faces when I was in front very satisfying .

Cup Holders are **** struggle to get a Maccie D cup in fully, unsure what they were thinking here.
Suspension so far is good Wifes doesn't thinks its any worse than the Scooby was, However I need to be careful trying to straddle speed bumps as if I hit them wrong its a real bang inside, Like wheel bending...
Seats are very special, love recaros anyway, but even with me being slightly cuddly at 15ST I fit well in them, adjustment is good too.

Played with flappy paddles yesterday, all good, seemed to change when I wanted etc.
Brakes are immense stops very fast.

MPG well not really got anything worth shareing it was at 21MPG, but after yesterdays MW trip it was in 32MPG, so when I go to chester later this week I,ll nudge and let you know.

Like the fact when it rains it shuts the roof and windows.

Suppose coming from an E350 id says boots small but enough for me, got wifes people eater for that stuff.

 

I found having a quick, petrol (having had a fastish diesel) from new a little frustrating as I couldn't fully rev it until 1200 miles but that milestone came fairly quickly!

Do you need any sort of running in service? Full fat M cars need a 1200 mile one but mine didn't - it has huge service intervals (I'll change oil every 10k miles though)!

If you ever venture down this way, I'd love to see it! I also highly recommend a Euro trip once run in - our trip to the Black Forest in Germany was absolutely brilliant fun; proper roads and people that encourage fun driving rather than hate anyone with a quick motor.

Setting cruise to 120mph is quite amusing.

 

Are the flappy paddles connected to a manual or auto box?

And what are the down shifts like, does it change when you want or when it wants?

And last question I don't dislike gadgets like the auto close when it rains and stop start if you have that etc but is there the option to turn them ALL off?

p.s when Mercedes etc obtain MPG figures they more often than not do it on a rolling road with no/minimal interior and electronics like sat navigation etc and in a perfect environment, unlike Subaru who add weight so as not to show off. so wouldn't hold my breath for the official figures. I could be wrong though, there's a first time for every thing.
