Well you and others like XDevil are confident that it won't happen with the new STI despite it using the same engine that has those problems and no one being able to confirm conclusively whether changes to prevent the problems have been made.

I know which I'd rather have confidence in and it's the proper engineering of the German marque

The Evos managed more bhp and torque from a 2.0 a fair few years ago.

A45 torque peaks at 2500ish rpm and I think it's twin scroll.

Mine has a twin scroll turbo stuck to a 3.0 straight six meaning peak torque starts at 1300rpm; it also keeps pulling to the red line; four pots, however powerful, have spikier torque and run out of puff lower down the rev range.

It's still a superb piece of engineering though (the AMG engine).

I am pretty sure I read somewhere that the straight six configuration is reckoned to be the best in terms of smoothness

Get off my *****, you know and I know my subaru would wipe that smile off your face when you hit "AMG" power!

Honestly my subaru ownership is my most reliable ownership and I have owned a lot of cars!

I'm like most others, I own mutilple cars because of no other reason than because I can, and that subaru is the one I refuse to sell

Touchè

Ha......don't compare me to XDevil, I am my own person.

And for the record big boy as far as the new STI goes or any other new car I like to keep open minded.

Oh...and there was a time that Subaru were a safer bet than a Merc, who knows, maybe the wind's have changed........although I doubt it.

Confident In the German manufacturing, I think the dumb *** donkey is forgetting one thing in his old age, Engines are now Machine manufactured!!

Things don't really go wrong with machines!!!

And really German? Show me exactly how the German cars are better than every other manufacture? There is **** all In the hot hatches now

It simply goes down to style choosing

Stuff like the a45, m135 are just pointless cars, there like the Porsche boxster, are there just to hold the gap of what they hopefully will buy next

2.0 4wd turbo is the future, BMW /Mercedes have been kicking them selves for years due to being trapped in a whirlwind of tradition with there rwd and straight 6. Mercedes have made a good step to come away from big cc but theres still a bit more to be done.

M5's are coming back down with the cc, turbos are being fitted left right and centre, and 4wd in a BMW I thought that rwd was the way of the purists, in truth 4wd is bloody expensive and although rwd in more expensive than fwd they never felt they had to go as far 4wd for exclusivity.

I am going to have a look at a m3 tomorrow though, I can't wait to here it sing.

Wtf?

How is a hatchback a pointless car?
Where do you draw the line?

An estate car - pointless when you could have a van?
A 5 seat saloon - pointless when you could have an estate....

A Boxster - 'hold the gap'?

How very bizarre.

The best thing about the car so far is the speed in which it accelerates, get into it's powerband and your off, then just as you thought it's enough another wave comes in. That and just having the automatic change for you it's like a go kart, loving it.

Bad thing about it is the cup holder in the front won't take 2 macdonalds cups, ****e I tell ye...

So for today I had 3 people come to me and say how good it looked,

And lastly, went to dinner at a friends, and on the way back I hit the silsden bypass, it's where the Tour de France is tomorrow, and what do I see coming from skip ton end, a white aclass, but wait it has 2 fins on the front, looks standard and whoosh it was off, so although a cardinal sin, oil was on Blue not white meaning gun it, I gunned it, had a real fun play with another white a45, until somebody pulled out on him, braked hard his rear light flashing like mad, I braked I could feel it slide a little but how good are those brake man I stopped quick.

Got past the 80 year old **** and then had another play, had to stop mind cos wife was shouting slow down, my 6 year old was saying again again, lol

But overall the car looks and drive fantastic, the pops n **** from the exhaust on overrun are mega, and if timed right you can **** people up with the fart change sound......

Added becker sat nav to it today with speed cams so that's working nicely.... Also hooked up iPhone 5s using the lightning to 30 pin as Mercs on 30 pin unless you order a 50 quid lead. The sound from iTunes synced stuff was amazing much better then from the USB key...weird....

Anyway pictures incoming soon as I get chance to upload and get more nice ones...

Have you got lost if im right your on a thread about a 4wd car that's on a Subaru forum.

But why are people so hung up on rwd? the idea is to not loose traction, its to go round the corner with as much control and speed as you can, and the way you get the result is ALMOST not relevant.

BTCC have a mixed bag and sometimes it favours the rwd and other times fwd.

I had a b4 rsk and used to love playing on a duel carriageway that had a spa like corner near to my home. I once had a play with a m3 on said road and when we got to the corner I left him way behind. The m3 was probably more capable than my car but not as easy,if you want to know who had the biggest smile it was me.

And one more point, a modern BMW is not rwd its a safety net powered by rwd.

'Other Marques', as in non Subaru vehicles - it says as much at the top of the thread.

I had two years with a god awful 996 turbo....sleep inducing.

As good a car as the A45 appears to be, I feel 4wd really isn't necessary.

4wd, in a road car, really isn't fun.

I didn't say what section it was in but I think you know I was right otherwise you wouldn't have done this () just bad taste.

In days past the rwd was the way to go but I was just getting with the times and was referring to more modern cars.

Bad taste?

Do you have a Subaru?

You say 'modern' cars - BMW don't make their high powered cars 4wd and they are as modern as you get.

Porsche make a few variables, but they're out sold by the RWD ones.
Merc, still make them RWD and I can't think why they felt the need to make the a45 4wd.

4wd takes all the feel out of a proper car.
It took me 12 months to realise that.

True but as ive said, modern cars whether rwd 4wd or fwd all play tricks.

My dad had a cossie that me and my bro could use and although crap, it was just about as much fun as ive had, until my brother wrote it off

I am going to have a look at a m3 tomoz and am not unaware of the greatness of rwd.
