Sorry Chris, but being serious for a minute that is BS!In the last ten years I have owned just 2 German cars alongside 9 Japanese cars, 2 British (well sort of - Jag) and a Swede that is my current daily driver!I don't like much of the VW or Audi ranges and less than half of he BMW and Merc ranges. I also realise that in many cases the German cars are not great value for money and do have a lot of faults.I am basically a petrolhead and like cars from all marqes. The fact a car is made by manufacturer X has no bearing on my appraisal of it.What I will say though is that the people in the AMG scene are generally a far nicer and more intelligent bunch than many of those in the Subaru scene! You won't get threads with people like XDevil slagging off Subarus in the Merc forums for instance!

This isn't how you present your self, but with regards to the AMG scene I have no doubt that its far superior to SN and the Subaru scene. Subaru has a bad reputation worldwide but is it not fair to say that you are part of the problem.

And what exactly is all that DCCD etc. gubbins in an STI?**Cars are getting more complex and electronics are doing more and more no matter which manufacturer it is!

Come on, we all know that AMG love their traction control and their ABS controlled stability management.

There was a thread on here the other day where people were actually claiming they'd prefer a 10yo STI over a Porsche 911 Turbo

Only if those general public have a basic ability though, if you're basically no good behind the wheel the car is largely irrelevant!

It's why many buy 4WD cars to be frank, to make up for their inadequacies, proper drivers buy RWD
Tee hee, I may have to agree with the last sentence ;-)

Anyway HAVE YOU GOT IT YET TED?!!

the only reason I like 4wd is because of this.

Ive been stuck in the snow whilst consulting away from home so many time its a joke, FWD or RWD both as bad when it gets really ****ty.

When I had the Scooby it was a dream, I remember once in chesterfield I was stuck in the Olde House pub because the snow was soo deep it was a joke, anyway I dug out the Scooby and drove home to leeds, all my mates were still there 3 days later...

Also the feeling of security when driving was another bonus.... Its just how I Personally like to feel.

don't get me wrong though id love to slide a RWD round a bend, but only in Forza

Lol....... I'm not comparing the amount your car devalues with other brands, I'm getting more at the point you must have more money than sense to buy a new car. I mean 20K down the drain in 4 years just in depreciation

And it's on finance too..... so when you come to sell it you'll have to fork out a huge chunk of cash just to fill the hole between what you owe and what the car is actually worth...

Don't apologise for liking 4wd, it's getting more popular in the performance world each day. The reason for fwd has a lot to do with cost, and 4wd is the most expensive but is now being recognised as the best way to control big power.

To many people listen to racing drivers on tv and think rwd is best. If you want a pure driving experience then go by a atom or go Go karting. A rwd bmw is nothing like pure, they all try and make you feel like a driving god with there aids, it's just that 4wd does it best.

Do you understand the fact that not all people are like you? People have different means and priorities, in other words £20k might mean a lot more to you than it might mean to somebody who earns five times what you do.

Personally speaking I'd be over the moon (as would my wife) if I only lost £20k over four years, I usually lose a lot more.

Now you may say I have more money than sense, I would counter that by saying I have enough money and enough sense to do exactly what suits my personal financial situation.

I don't understand why people are giving Littleted a hard time. He has bought the car he wants and is going to pay for it with money he earns.

Any updates Ted?

Some very angry little boys posting here.

I detect envy, immaturity and pathetic self justification.

The current crop of hyper hatches are all superb and the A45 stands at the top of the performance tree.

It wasn't my choice but it's still a cracking car.

I can't wait to see photos!!

Anybody that gets finance to buy a car and gets excited about saving £30 a month surely can't afford to throw away so much. But a pretty fun and good way to do so never the less.

But I suppose iam just some poor little jealous kid.

Wow, as surprising as this may seem for once I am in complete agreement with you. Anyone who buys a car as an investment will be very disappointed (classic exotica aside).

Life is too short to worry about how much you may lose on this car or that car or this deal or that deal.

Get the car you want and enjoy it or spend your whole life worrying about how much it may cost and telling yourself you'll buy it next year... I know which I prefer!

everyone's circumstances are different

and people are free to spend their own money as they see fit, so absurd to get to puritanical about these things

without wanting to sound like Rolf

we all have a "little boy" in us - good to feel really really exited about something, takes the "greyness" out of life

Likewise i couldn't agree more, if you have the means spend spend spend. No point sitting on a large pile of cash only for it to be taken by the government when you pop your clogs.

Yes get the money spent when your young enough to enjoy it
No point in being old and knackered saving it for your kids inheritance

If it makes you feel good get it spent otherwise you will regret it when your older

Now when is the gtr Nismo out
Sod my boy he makes enough

I'm speechless how you think it's quite acceptable to throw so much money away. I wouldn't dream of buying a new car regardless of my financial situation. I'd much prefer to buy a year old one which has already lost the largest chunk of money.
On average, a new car will be worth just 40% of its new value after just three years. So your 40K merc will return you in the region of 16 grand after just 36 months of motoring. That to me is utter madness, and I'm far from 'hard up'.

But thank god they do, if no one bought new where would the 3 year old, just run in examples be, at 40% off

Two"cars" on the driveway, both bought new; £76k for both in cash.

Damn I must be a proper retard.

F**k it, we love cars/vans and they give us huge amounts of pleasure.

Each to their own; the thought of endlessly obsessing about bloody houses bores me to death but seems to make our entire nation feel artificially happy.
