I think you'd change your mind if you had a ride round Spa with Karl Wendlinger at the helm. Don't confuse a lack of driver ability with lack of car ability

Don't think it will be long till you can pick one up for less than the new Sti whether new or used. But on the other hand, aftermarket seems to be a bit expensive so wont be long till one of John's 400bhp Sti passes you.
I think you'll find chris the majority of aero less ones are indeed 36 to 38 any with aero are normally 39 to 44 ( watches Chris surf web frantically proving me wrong ) ill be honest to say Chris if u look on Pistonheads or Autotrader not one Aero is under 40k..there is a boggo 1 for 35ish... but hey ho.

But then again the cars only 38k new standard ... Time will tell.

5 hours woot pictures incoming I've charged all the dash cams and stuff, video from when I pick it up to turning the key

Then fill her up, macdonalds, screw around a bit , pick kids up screw around a bit more

They're far quicker than an STI.

My BM is quicker, an A45 is quicker, I should think a Golf R is quicker too.

I tthink you'd change your mind if you had a ride round Isle of Man with Mark Higgins at the helm.

Is not how a professional can drive a car round a track, it's how the general public who buy the cars can handle it.

Iam sure that a f1 car can out pace both, but in the wrong hands its a death trap that will spin like its on ice.

No I wouldn't. The technology of the AMG is more modern and better researched/invested! Fact!

If a Subaru fan drives one for 10 minutes then he's hardly going to a) extract the best out of it or b) sing its praises as most Subaru fans tend to be myopic in the extreme where other marques are concerned! There was a thread on here the other day where people were actually claiming they'd prefer a 10yo STI over a Porsche 911 Turbo

Only if those general public have a basic ability though, if you're basically no good behind the wheel the car is largely irrelevant!

It's why many buy 4WD cars to be frank, to make up for their inadequacies, proper drivers buy RWD

I wasn't talking about outright speed, i was talking about the handling and dynamics which the STi is superior at, fact. The A45 understeers like a pig on the limit!

No i wouldn't. You shouldn't confuse your opinion with someone who has driven both the new STi and the A45 and someone who hasn't driven either

To be honest I thought that they were more to buy new. I would like to know how many leave the showroom standard though. I would have thought that with a few spec's added the price will end up over 40k with some being closer to 50k. In the after market it will be imperative that they have all the toy's, Merc don't do so well with resale and for a car of that badge the toy's will swing the buyer. (Do they have satnav as standard? )

But don't misunderstand me, it might not be good for you but the lower the price the closer I will get to having the opportunity to buy one.

Yeah anything decent is 40k +

As for understeer, , even the Subaru had it, problem A45 has is Haldex which in fairness is predominantly FWD, with 50% to rear when needed, with the Scooby if you leave it in normal mode it understeers fact I saw it and felt it many a time.

but the beauty of the scobydoo was you could go - which mean more rear wheel drive and turn in faster, this did away with most of it. and in the snow you go + so more FWD with a little help from the rear

But to be blunt ill rarely ever see it because I don't generally Track a car, nor race like a nobber round corners. Im a fly down the slip road type of guy or blast from the lights...

I think Chris if your in the market for 1 wait 6 months toa year and youll get 1 for 30k I bet.

Suppose time will tell. I do know however the value after 4 years is estimated at 18k..

they are so boring and common, yet alone look like a girls car dont even worry about it.

I bet you any money they get the comment "hair dressers car" multiple times a day and they will sit there and go "yeah but look at thissssss "and rev there engine or show under the bonnet

dont even panic about it, they are doing the same as you defending there purchase, difference is they are trying to justify it on a subaru forum.... lmao

In the new STi ted? it doesn't understeer much at all, has more of a tendency to oversteer now when pushed hard in fact. I have the diff set to AUTO- in mine, which is perfect.

Ok I may get my terminology mixed up here but on turning at speed I found that it drifted outwards as though I needed to turn more.

I noticed it on the 2011 saloon, maybe not massively but when hammering it, it was deffo there.

unsure what this will be like, I,ll have to let ya know.

Might have been Bald tyres LOL

@ devil u know what I think when I see a Subaru driver, well 80% of them anyway. Social, Council House walla, drugs, fat birds... but your that 20% like I was yeah

Why are people like you so obsessed with what people say about the car you drive? Drive what you want and ignore anyone who insults your choice! How hard can it be?

It is the Other Marques section and on a thread about the A45 people like you and Mr Fantasy Land who claims to have test driven everything are commenting about a Scoob Oh the irony and the hypocrisy not to mention the crass stupidity of your post!!

There was a thread on here the other day where people were actually claiming they'd prefer a 10yo STI over a Porsche 911 Turbo*

Mercedes have never been up there when it comes to handling, even with the extra power the BM's and Audi have always out performed them. By no means will it be bad though, Im sure its great and possibly even better than the new Sti.

With regards to the 911 thread, people wasn't saying that a 10 year old sti was better than a 911 turbo, it was, can a modified sti stay with a 911 turbo.

It's funny how you think that people on SN are blinded by Subaru love goggles . You are just as blinded by the Germans and as far as Subaru go, they failed before they even tried in your eye's.

In the world of performance Mercedes just give it big power and attach a laptop to each corner, but by no means is that a bad thing, quite the opposite, for the road there safe and pull well.

Sorry Chris, but being serious for a minute that is BS!

In the last ten years I have owned just 2 German cars alongside 9 Japanese cars, 2 British (well sort of - Jag) and a Swede that is my current daily driver!

I don't like much of the VW or Audi ranges and less than half of he BMW and Merc ranges. I also realise that in many cases the German cars are not great value for money and do have a lot of faults.

I am basically a petrolhead and like cars from all marqes. The fact a car is made by manufacturer X has no bearing on my appraisal of it.

What I will say though is that the people in the AMG scene are generally a far nicer and more intelligent bunch than many of those in the Subaru scene! You won't get threads with people like XDevil slagging off Subarus in the Merc forums for instance!

Not true, but if they don't change 'that' engine and get someone in who can actually style their cars I will not be coming back.

And what exactly is all that DCCD etc. gubbins in an STI? Cars are getting more complex and electronics are doing more and more no matter which manufacturer it is!

This is rich coming from you you go round polluting any thread that speaks highly of Subaru, with special attention to the 2.5 and new Sti.

Yes, but even if that were true it is on threads about the new STI, please tell me you can see the difference

your arrogance and ignorance is outstanding It isn't a claim its fact, i really don't know why you find it so hard to believe that i could walk into a merc dealer and book a test drive and then make my own review and opinion of it. I've been looking at options for a new car over the last few months and the A45 was on my list as were an Audi S3, M135i and the 2015 STi.
