The originals on mine don't appear to be that well painted - if you look through them, it looks patchy on the inside of the wheel.
Debating whether to respray these ones, or go for something else (easier to clean, these are a pain in the ****). Bit worried about the tyre pressure sensor things, not sure how they fit into the equation with new/aftermarket wheels. And of course, the warranty.

Evening all, just hit 4000 miles in mine after 8 months ownership so thought I'd share a pic. Absolutely loving the STI. Also in the pic are my Escort (2.1 Ghia) and Manta (1.8 Berlinetta)

Loved the photos so far. Seriously considering one of these at some point. The grey looks awesome but not sure I could over look getting one in blue.

Looks good.

What exhaust is that?

(It's my car's birthday today, had it a year) still love it. Picked up some wheels for it, going to get them refurbished in gold. 😉

I've had mine a year and a couple of days! The exhaust is a Q300 all the way from the States. It's OK, but I was looking for something as quiet as standard but with better flow. Might get this modified or sell it and get a custom made exhaust.

Anyone fitted a Subaru Performance Exhaust? Was waiting for a 340R upgrade but that doesn't seem to be forthcoming.
Was concerned about fitting an aftermarket part and messing the warrenty up, and noticed that Subaru are now advertising performance exhaust back boxes and I'm missing the burble.

Hi Neil,

I've got a Miltek system on mine from ScoobyClinic,

I looked at purchasing a dealer one but seemed really expensive so didn't in the end.

My dealer said they would cover it still on warranty if there were any issues.

Sounds so much better now.

Cheers,

Rob

How much of the exhaust did you replace, just the back boxes of all of? How much was it?

Thanks

Guys, haven't been on here for a long time. Sold up to buy a house. Looking to get back Into the fold.

The 2014 on, anyone owners had or know of any

engine failures?
Common mechanical issues?
Warranty recalls?

Thanks in advance

Hi Stevie

There was a thread on this very subject a while back, had a quick look but cannot find it, sure it was in General or Gallery but a search should bring it up.

Cheers
Arron

Yep kinda, just mapped to 330/345, which makes all the difference and is plenty for a daily on the roads imo. Any more then its new pistons etc etc.

Funny you should say that, my blob STi which was 330bhp felt quicker, but it wasn't, just noisier and more raw. Performance is similar but the new one would nuke it off the line

Who did you have map it? Was it dyno'd? Anything else don't beyond the map, exhaust etc?

Drove one at the weekend and it lacked any drama or sense of speed for me. But with it being so quiet probably attributed to that..

Local mapper that the dealer has used for many years in Cheshire, yup and i have proof, with an extended 5yr warranty, Nope standard exhaust. Mine "was a good one". They are about 280/290 from the factory so a decent gain just with a ecutek map.

Indeed they are a lot quieter than previous models, but i agree feel "slow" standard, especially in top. The map sorts that, as it did in the blob which was also flat in 6th.

Thanks for that Arron, doesn't look like there's a great deal to be concerned with. In two minds at the moment, currently driving a new focus ST, nice car but I don't care what ford claim trying to get any power down in anything other than dry weather is a no go. So it's time to replace if

How are you? you driving an a45 amg now. How is it?

know what you mean about traction, my Mini JCW the new 231bhp 1 is like having bars of soap on the front wheels i spin in 4th lol.

My Old A45 was good as its 4wd, but it wasn't as surefooted at Subarus 4wd which is permanent you could always get the front wheels to spin before the back kicked in.

No problem at all mate, yes can imagine the ST spinning the wheels up, my neighbour has one running around 350 and that must be an nightmare! Do you have anything else in mind other than the STI, I would have been tempted had I not had 3 in a row and the lack of local delaers!

Yes all good ta, had the 45 a month now and loving it, the interior is such a nice place to be, its seriously quick but does it all so refined so is taking some getting used to, the exhaust note is amazing, first car in about 10 years I've not had to put a custom exhaust on strauight away, pops and crackles from the factory!
