I think some of problems we have with the youth of the day stems from a lack of discipline and the threat of physical force, say what you will about this day and age and we don't hit kids any more but it's all a namby pamby approach that in extreme cases leads to groups of kids finding it acceptable to beat up old men!

Some kids need a healthy fear and respect of people around them if not they have no limits or boundaries to live to, the shift in culture to not discipline kids like we were back in the 70's and 80's sounds great on paper meanwhile in the real world is doesn’t work.

I have seen 2 cases locally where young tear aways have been put on a non pc "respect" your elders course ran by a couple of burly blokes this was done after every route of talking, psycho evaluations etc had been done to no avail.
2 weeks at boot camp and they were and still are different kids! "Welcome to the real world boys!"

Rules of the jungle should apply when a lion cub steps out of line it gets bitten!

I remember growing up in a culture where I wasn't even safe at my mates houses as their dads were allowed to give clips around the ears....... and everyone given out was deserved!

Kids haven’t changed with society and pc values they will always push the boundaries to see what they get away with I wonder how many times she was asked to keep quiet before the tape came out?

If my kids came home telling me that this had happened I'd of laughed and said they probably deserved it!

In my primary, we had a teacher clad in all white who was believed to be married to her God. She used to target a vulnerable girl from our class, and used to throw black board wooden duster at her. Often this girl would pee in her pants, but that psychotic teacher had this perception of this child as an 'evil' one. That clad-in-all-white teacher was a very oppressed creature, fair play.

In my secondary, our history teacher used to pile heavy books on the culprit students' hands, and make them bear the weight of them until they say- "Sir, please! My arms are going to fall off! " This teacher was quite intelligent, but terribly boring with his vocal delivery. So I don't really blame students for talking in his lesson. Another teacher would make the culprit stand up and face the wall with his/her back to the rest of us.

I heard of a 'Murga' (means 'chicken') punishment, but never was fortunate enough to see anyone suffer through it. In this one, one had to put their arms through- from the back of their legs, and hold their ears for all the way through the lesson. This sounds very painful, and our school didn't use this one.

Personally, it was only the once when I was put outside with my desk and chair to learn from distance because I complained for the stench the eccentric teacher was omitting. This Norwegian teacher never took bath except for Christmas. He really smelt bad, so I told him- "Sir, you stink!". He put me outside, but nothing more than that. From then on, I voluntarily chose to sit in the back, in his Maths lesson.

Regardless of how many times she was asked before the tape came out, I don't agree with taping kid's mouth.

As I say, there are other ways to punish for discipline, as I stated before.

Children work towards the conditions of worth. If such conditions are applied well, they will respond well.

It should have been like that even in those times when psychotic teachers were throwing dusters and keys at disruptive pupils like snowballs.
