I'm just drawing attention to the fact that every time some attrocity is carried out in the name of Islam, Shaid attempts to balance that with a random, non religious crime to demonstrate how bad "western" culture is as some sort of "well you are just as bad" defence.

The parallell should not be ethnicicity and culture but religion. And your and Shaid's failure to see that is quite clear.

I'm not defending Christianity. Or any other religion here. I'm drawing attention to the fact that in this 21st century more religion based attrocities appear to be committed in the name of Islam than any other.

The Qu'ran, like the Bible (old and new testament) is outdated and much iof its "teachings" are not acceptable in a civilised modern society.
