After changing over to winter tyres I noticed that the front left tyre on the Revolutions had worn badly on the inside so arranged for a geo check at Farmer Autocare. They found that the front left camber/toe was out so have re-aligned. They suggested it was down to the new wishbones at the front having new bushes. I did check with Subaru when getting the wishbone warranty work done if it included alignment, Subaru declined saying because it was all fixed bolt positions so alignment wouldn't be effected. Obviously they didn't take into account worn bushes on a 10year old car, so if you've had this work done may be worth checking your geo to save your front tyres.

merlin, I spoke to Peter just before easter, and he says he has some sets that will be ready for dispatch in April. Get on it mate!
On the topic of the PCA blues; Modrich, would you say i'll be ok fitting them with a 3 month old baby as a regular passenger? I'm just concerned about how hard they might be, as the standard springs already have his head getting thrown around more than a bobble head dash toy! As you've had yours on for a while now, would you still say the ride is not noticeably much harder?

I've also had them fitted for a few months and use the car daily. I didn't really notice much difference in the normal ride but possibly it's a little firmer but far from crashy or uncomfortable. The spring rate more noticeable when cornering under speed, made a huge difference to the way the car moves around.
Peter is a very helpful chap, give him a call to discuss.
This is how it sits after bedding in with new shocks:

Glad you're enjoying the springs Matt, cars looking cracking with the PFF7s/grilles/blackout headlamps!
Si, as Matt says, it is certainly no worse with the PCA springs, ride quality is better, not crashy, feels like a properly developed setup (which it is), the OEM springs didn't feel nice at all. If your newborns head is being jolted around a lot on OEMs it's not going to be much different really with the PCA springs, but they're not newborns for long and it won't be long before he/she is pestering you to have a ride in! I've got 2&3yr old girls and they don't go in the wagon often at all (we have a 7 seater for that) so it's a novelty for them and they love it! They're going to be petrolheads like their dad!

Another tidy wagon there matt!
Thank you both for the feedback. Im confident it'll be ok now. The problem is only really when he falls asleep (which isnt often!), and as you say, the little mans going to get bigger quickly. Plus im staying on 17s, so the ride will be minutely softer still than both you guys.
On the subject of bedding in. How long did you wait before getting the geo done?

Man maths always adds-up!
I waited a week before getting the geo done, just to be sure as I don't do a lot of miles, but a good blast on an A road with plenty of bumps and twists should be fine as well.

Hi again mate. Did you use the prodrive geo settings? If so did you have the thrust angle set as suggested? I dont really understand why you'd want that set slightly off centre.

Hi Si, yes I had the geo set-up to Prodrive settings, the rear thrust should be as close to 0 as possible, what you're referring to is the tolerance +/- 0deg02'. Mine came out at -0deg01'.
#281
Ah i was wondering if it might mean tolerance, but i wasnt sure. My new blues are sitting here waiting to go on now, but annoyingly ive got orders from management to sort the front garden out first!

new blob steering wheel & A/C condenser fitted
Not updated this thread for a while, here's a couple of updates:
Refurbed early blob steering wheel fitted, I much prefer the look of these to the later all black versions
DIY thread here: https://www.scoobynet.com/interior-1...l#post11820924
Have just fitted a new A/C condenser and had the system re-gassed after discovering I had no A/C again, last time just had it re-gassed so more drastic measures this time

Well I have just read the whole thread and have to say thank you very much matey I own a Black 05 SL wagon which I love and it's certainly given me some ideas to work from!
Mines had a few power upgrade parts fitted.. VF 43 lagged up pipe, sports cat, decat, blue injectors, sti scoop and Undertray, pink clutch, eibach springs, and I've only owned it 6 weeks haha! Oh and it came from the outskirts of Edinburgh too!!

Cheers Frankola, there's just something about a wagon SL, all that space in the back with a teensy weensy bit of class thrown in with the heart and soul of a Subaru, can't beat it!
Sounds like you've got stuck-in with the mods, I decided to leave more power for a future STi purchase and concentrated on improving WRX in small areas to make it as tight/sharp/up-to-date as possible.
Must admit after 2 1/2 years ownership and my 'to do' list done to death I'm starting to get itchy feet again! Keep looking at other estates/wagons like FSTi's, Classic V5/6 STi wagons and the odd V7 STi wagons that keep popping up. Then I slap myself in the face and remind myself that all my time is currently taken-up with house projects and the kids so no time for starting on a new car project lol! I just can't help thinking that I would love a classic wagon before they get too old for a daily drive...

Haha yes I know the house/children bit I have 3 boys 26, 28, and 32! The youngest owns a nice black sti blob, and the middle used to have an sti blob, although my previous money pit (also the eldest when he owned one) was a Dakar GTiR 447bhp with 440 ft lb of torque stripped and caged so miss that power (cost me £25.000 to build!) but having been there and done that the wagon is quick and so useful as I also carp fish so need a bit of space in a vehicle! My youngests sti is good fun but I find you are always ripping through the gears and I just prefer the 5 speed box of my wrx

2016 Service and winter wheels on
Right, it was oil change time at the weekend, so fresh 5w40 Millers oil, Mahle oil filter (filled-up with oil before fitting) and Pro-R air filter hoovered and washed/dried before re-fitting, the filter is a couple of years old now and looks almost new and has probably paid for its self now compared to throw away filters, so well worth fitting.
Was also the first time I've used my new oil filter wrench set, means I'll never be without the correct size wrench ever again lol! Although the oil filter on our Subarus isn't exactly a PITA to get to, so probably overkill...
The temperature has dropped drastically in the last week or so which meant next-up it was time to get the winter wheels fitted
Ordered a set of TPi XR steel wheel nuts in black, have these in chrome as well and they're top quality nuts
Wheels on
Tyres are a set of used but virtually brand new winters, Nokian WR G2 all weather plus, but turned out to be run flats so the ride is a little
firmer than the standard Nokian winters on the WRX 17s I used last year.

Thanks guys, yeah very happy with them, but I actually still prefer the look of the Revolutions myself, they fill the arches much better, could do will 5mm spacers I think. I take it you need longer studs even with 5mm spacers?

Have them on both our cars and work a treat
