saw a cheap blob slam pannel if you want a link lol, i think its an early model one, seen a few with similar. its like a classic sti one which fits a new age, bit different i guess haha, wonder if anyone here knows

im just going to drill out the spot welds and then apparently it all lines up

 

just feel its more fun this way, and works out cheaper with less hassle of buying and selling cars

This is probably a more cost effective way especially as the UK hawks have the 2.5 block which may require an expensive engine rebuild later on.

not much to update, but finishing uni for easter in just over a week so will have some more to update.

got myself one of these splitters to add to the bumper



and finally got a drivers side wing! comes with a damaged passenger side one too which hopfully i can repair and sell on

you complete git, i've been trying to find blob WRX seats for my bug for donkeys (same color as yours!)

Did you switch the door cards and the back seats or just the fronts on their own? If it was just the seats, how do they match up with the other rears and the door cards?

 

got them from a local club member paid £50 for them and it was the full set and door cards. you will be able to see a difference in the fronts and back but door cards not so much

 

your a lucky duck, i've been searching high and low and can't find anybody selling

car looks well though, best colour of course! If your looking at fitting the STI pinks see if you can get the STI TGV delete manifold to go with - it's worth an extra few ponies for you when it's mapped.

 

will do hoping maybe next year to dump an sti lump in with the avcs heads etc

 

oh well you should get STI seats now then... i'll even look after your old WRX blob seats for you

 

so i had my mot coming up, i knew that my front u frame was a little rotten so got a newer one with just some surface rust and painted it up





then ive been wanting to upgrade the brakes for a while and contacted mattyb and got these ordered



while i was inspecting the front of the car i noticed one of my droplinks had snapped so took a drive to scoobybits in Truro and got these, they have told me that they are superior to the white line alternative



and fitted



new frame fitted up, also gave it an oil and filter change



then was time to fit the brembos, comparison of the discs




and fitted



then it was time for the mot, yep it wasnt good



i didnt even think the rear subframe was bad just some more surface rust, but the mot man put a hammer straight through it



very very rotten!

so that leaves me here with an issue, i have to go back to uni on sunday, so looks like the car will stay at home. time to put her in the barn for a couple months break lol. then she will be out again for a rear over haul. and to get that hawk front end on!

 

Short update, new rear cross member ordered and received ready to fit in 3 weeks also got a wide track rear bumper and arches from mattyb. this will then help solve the rusty arch issue as i can now just cut the rust out and protect it while hiding it all with the arch extensions

 

so this is the last time she will look like this, the overhaul begins

skirts and rear plastic covers gone too



under the mud was some more rust





wings came off along with a good 1/2 kg of mud lol, really shows its important to regularly take the arch liners out and clean behind before this stuff starts to show





first little wing test fit, line up fine as seen



and look what i found, more rust. something else to replace now!






front panel is off



ac rad removed and rotten support



next couple days will be spent putting the support back in and new panel, maybe even test fit a few more parts, fingers crossed the weather picks up!

 

first the bonnet went on, straight away starts taking shape!

good couple coats of rust prevention paint



then a few bits turned up



and a test fit



next was to carry on with the de rust





trim on the rear arches lol





anyone know what this is? is it an aerial?









then i got stuck in and forgot to take photos haha, but the new slam panel had some kissing with an angle grinder and a hammer and it went in and got the main parts linned up pretty well



then got one head light in, these are a real pain to fit, still not in how i want it but its getting there, just have to keep trimming the surrounding area till they do



gaps i need to fix



and finally treated myself to a nardi

 

your mystery cable has too many pins for a aerial - could be off a CD changer maybe?

I like the work you've put into it and I've enjoyed reading your modification thread, but for me I would rather have transformed my Bugeye into a Blobeye shaped car. I know the Hawkeye is a more modern look but the Blobeye is the best shaped of the new age cars in my opinion.

so parts were all removed after a little more prep work off to be painted



with this done it was a good time to start on the rotten rear sub frame

so the wheels went on and drove off to work where i can use the 4 post ramp, first time i had driven it in 2 months and wow i miss it



up onto the ramp and work begain, as you can see the rust is not too good







so off came the exhaust, prop, hand brake cables, abs cables and brake lines allowing me to drop the entire rear axle



old subframe stripped down and time for this to hit the metal bin- not sure there is much metal left though



parts taken home and a nice layer of hammerite on top



while doing this i thought it would be a good time to sort the front lights













lens' need a good polish but good to go on

back at work and the rear axle is starting to take shape once again

so one of the fails on the mot were the rear brake lines, so i made up some new ones, quite tricky shapes to copy but all good and ready to go on



will get some better photos soon! also the parts are all painted ready to collect, so better get the car done and home to fit!

 

why do bugeyes rust like this my slam panel is real bad & rear subframe is worse than yours,which im now going to replace,did you have many problems getting old subframe off anythink to be carefull with?
