its bad isnt it! you found it anywhere else apart from the above? mine came off pretty easy actually, i was supprised, make sure the car is in the air, and you have a good breaker bar and quality sockets, you could try my method and drop the lot all as one, then split it once all on the ground, wd40 all the nuts and scrape the rust off them so the sockets fit well, this is all i can think of- oh and some goggle or glasses, you will get a nice rust shower haha

Are you leaving the slam panel cut out or are you going to weld some new metal in there - I know mine needs doing but I am tempted to cut it all out and put a round bar in place - more like the start of a space-frame

im just going to leave the bottom part in like it is, just throw some more paint over it, then make some little brackets to make the bonnet latch leg solid, space frame would be cool though haha

I'm not so worries about the bonnet latch leg as I have aeroctaches - I'm going to delete the bonnet catch completely - I'm more interested in how the PS cooler and hella horns mount

havnt thought about the air con yet, ill have a look tomorrow and see what i can work up, but the horns i am going to mount on the bonnet latch holes, im thinking of going with aero catches too, as im not 100% confident with the carbon bonnet not wanting to open at speed

just realised how much updating this needs!
from where i left off new brake lines were made and fitted along with the subframe going back in and all bolted back together

then it was the inner arch rust on the rear passenger side to deal with, and the car didnt disappoint with it being more than i thought!

new patch made up and welded in

then a large amount of seal sealent and lots of under guard and its looking good!

finally car was brought home and time to make it look pretty

painted items all came back and the fun of assembly began

rear strut brace was added while the rear interior was out

and back together

rear bumper fitted

front grills made up

front wings on with headlights

bumper all bolted down, with a splitter added

looking pretty good if i do say so myself
then the major issue i had, the headlights! many hours of playing searching and asking questions with no answers at all a local subaru nut came out and within about 2-3 hours we have this

and a little treat for the car, went with the hkb boss

neatened up the battery strap

and the best bit

so a well done present to the car rcm induction kit

and a couple more photos

not much to update. was going to have the car taken to engine tuner for some initial mapping, but due to needing a 100% reliable car for taking me to and fro uni i couldnt justify the risk and cost if it went wrong. but big engine plans for 12 months time
couple small things, drivers harness

new badge for the front

bit of gold paint to liven up the bay- need to sort the manifold out soon!

and then driving along one day my bonnet decided to jump off its latch so made these up

back at uni now so nothing to say really, finally got a set of front arch liners to fit soon, and fitted a quick release hub on the steering wheel for added security

Well think i should update this, breaks my heart to say this but the impreza is no more, i was involved in a crash, came round a corner a bit quick with some mud on and the car slid off the road into a tree. Insurance claim has been settled and car has been purchased back as a cat c. just gutted that i never got to where i wanted to get with the car. i feel the best thing for it is to be broken for parts, the car will be back with me in a couple of weeks for this. a couple photos of the car anyhow, its a bit of a mess

minus the obvious damage to the front end and engine everything else is salvage able off her, please pm me with any parts you may like
here is the replacement for about 12 months while i regain and earn some money, hoping to be back in something like a P1 soon

yep, all i can say is im glad i hit the tree straight on or it could have caused some worse injuries to my passengers or myself. in reply to yourr un edited question, im surprised its not a cat B either, the only thing i can think of its not caused any structural damage
thanks Zany!
thanks Zany!
I just started reading this thread today, from start to finish. I was really looking forward to your next upgrades and enjoyed reading about all your hard work on making it a solid foundation for future power mods. Gutted for ya pal.
