Default Tyre sizes

Just a quick question, I'm after people's thoughts.... I have stock 17" Rims powder coated black and have Bridgestone potenza 215/45/17 on, my local garage has recommended putting on 225/45/17 said I would have a better choice of tyre and there cheaper? What are yr thoughts on putting a wider tyre on? Cheers in advance

215/45/17 suggests you're driving a newage, it is the correct size for the car.

Any other profile will alter your rolling radius, some by a little, some by a lot - it's up to you. Scroll toward the bottom of this page and and tinker with the rolling radius calculator http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

Many people with Scoobs rave about Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres, they come in the 225/45 profile, but not 215...

I strongly advise you check these wheels over back and front very regularly for fractures, you can read up on why here

well mate, it's a hard decision, but if you're buying 4 new tyres, now might be the time to take the plunge, and get a deal on a wheel n tyre combo... so M444GY@RUISLIP TYRE SERVICE LTD might be worth tapping up? Some of the ROTA range of alloys grab my attention.

If you don't actually need all 4 tyres then I'd say stick with the profile you have, however as you've read I'm not confident in oem newage alloys powder coated or otherwise,
