Default Which brakes/kit?

Probably been done to death, but better to hear from people with experience rather than choose one via the internet.
Looking at the brakes on my 2004 wrx wagon it won't be too long before they need replacing, so I thought I'd find out what people use and how they find them.
Don't want anything for track use, purely for road use, but I would like something that doesn't fade after any spirited driving and has a nice bite to it, I like to feel what's going on down there.
Are any of the packages that are advertised on here up to what I need.

A Brembo brake upgrade would be ideal IMO. These brakes would only be second hand but are relatively cheap and effective, the Brembos came on the newage STis (2000-now) *bugeye onwards. It is up to you whether you want front and rear option but if you have a budget then go for the fronts. If you want brand new brakes go for AP's, K-sports, etc but you will be spending £1000+ just for the fronts. However, seeing how you described your requirements the Brembos are the best for spirited driving. AP's, etc are only usually needed for track/ high powered vechiles.

Also make sure to get some good pads aswell if they are not already included in the sale.

EDIT: You will need either STi alloys or a bigger offset to clear them if you still have standard wheels.

Subaru Collector 555.

Weirdfish: Be careful, Brembos will certainly NOT fit under WRX wheels, and I assume those Porsche ones won't either, so budget for new wheels too......

Speak to Ian at godspeed.

I have an 05 wagon PPP and I bought his grooved disks and Kevlar pads along with caliper refurb kit, braided hoses and dot 5.1 brake fluid.

I find this ok for weekend blasts on the back roads. Yes,they will fade, but only when driving like I stole it. If I was gonna go 300+bhp then I would go k-sport etc.

Won't have to worry about pistons sticking for a while either.

I was a little concerned about the size of the calipers mentioned, definitely not going to replace the wheels as well.
The ones from Godspeed might be an option, as they'll probably suit my needs at the moment.

personally would use something with a little more bite than the Kevlar type pads and put some money to one side to 'match' the rear compound also as this will give a far better overall result IMO.......

The rears will be getting done as well, maybe not at the same time, but soon afterwards.
What do you suggest I look at?

Simply Brembo callipers or K-Sport 8pots 330mm I would choose without the questions,OE 4pots are poor on the heavy wagons,I've tried several pads and always I've found them poor

depends a lot on your budget/driving style/use................

a few possibilities would be Brembo Sport, Mintex 1155, high quality OEM, Ferodo ds2500, etc...........

Firstly what is your budget ? you will have people spending over a grand for you lol.

The German made kevlar pads we sell are sold with use like yours in mind , an everyday drive , with some spirited driving at times , they are not the best pads out , and are not suitable for track days , but what we recommend them for they are very good.

As an example we offer a package for your car with front and rear grooved discs with black painted centres , and front and rear kevlar pads for £235 inc vat.

We also offer just about every pad available , for harder drivers , and those doing track days there are more suitable pads

And then up to our own 330mm grooved 2 piece discs and bells , alloy brackets , pads of choice , and AP 4 pot calipers for £1100 , and these will fit under your standard 17" WRX wheels

Cheers Ian
