Default Brake faukt

Hi does anyone no if the brembo brake calipers on the front of a 2005 sti give any problems sticking I no the standard brakes on a Wrx do and there's a repair kit for them but not sure if this the same with the brembos. Driving at around 70-80 mph getting a real bad judder coming through the car isn't there all the time seems to be when the brakes get warm. When I stopped I could smell brakes and the driver side alloy wheel is hot and the other 3 are cold. Possible caliper or mayb a warped brake disc. Anyone help me out.

yes they do, and the bolts usually snap when taking them off too so will need helicoiling.

On the brembo it's quite rare for the pistons to stick , unless a dust boot has split and letting dust and damp in , what can happen is the metal pad plate corrode underneath which pushes the plates away from the caliper body which then jams the pads in place , if the pads jam they won't release off the disc when you release the brake pedal.

Check the pads are free to move in the caliper , if not clean the calipers including under the plates.

The thread can play up , but this would only cause a problem when removing the calipers , it would affect the way they work

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

I've noticed reading up on seized calipers/binding brakes that most are on the nearside, is this do do with the camber of the road putting more strain/weight on the passenger side of the car?

My cousin has just stripped my rear caliper and the seizure was due to the Caliper seal in the piston swelling.

Not sure what was causing the front to bind as we replaced the calipers.
