Default Best tyres for WRX GB270 Wagon

Just become the proud owner of a WRX GB270 Wagon.

Only trouble is the crap tyres on the front.

What are the tyres I should be running?

Hi there

Welcome to Scoobynet as first

What sizes of wheels do you have 18" or 17" ?

If you have 18" I would choose Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta which are probably best tyres what I've tried on our wagon and our wagon has run in excess 555bhp

Best tyres I have had on my GB270 wagon are the current Goodyear Asymmetric 2's - have had pirelli P Zero (MO) - the original fitment, Vreddy Sessantas and Michelin PS3 - the Goodyear's are better than all the above for me. Better wet, dry and wear as well as the PS3's - done 9K on them and only half worn when the Pirelli's only lasted 8000 miles (rotated) total!.

Should add that tyres are a very personal thing though - but Goodyear's for me.

Would suggest getting the extra load ones as well.

Enjoy your new wagon.

Thanks Jura :-)

Do they give good steering feel?

That's a lovely looking wagon you have built....did it break? (Now breaking) :-(

+1 for the goodyears. Wouldn't mind trying the vredestein but none of my local tyre places seem to do them.

Thanks all :-)

Yes, I agree and I probably should have said that I am not particularly interested in long wear if it comes at the expense of grip. I don't do that many miles and I just want all out grip, though balanced between wet and dry.

I will probably give the Goodyear a go as I have had good experience with them on other cars in the past.

Michelin super sports? They are generally regarded by a few pro reviews as the best road tyres for grip but they are generally more expensive.

Is it true an expensive grippy tyre will return 10% less MPG than an inexpensive hard tyre?

I changed my hard Contisport 2 tyres for softer Vredestein Centos and have lost exactly 10% mpg. The ride is much better though but not any gripper.
