Default K-sport/D2 brakes

Just a quick one for the k-sport/D2 users, is the lack of dust seals actually an issue?

Cheers.

Hi Neil only had mine on for about a year so not a problem so far.

I guess the question is after about 4 years or so, will it cause an issue with pistons sticking etc?? Who knows, then again with so many kits available for the Brembos you could argue that it doesnt really matter.

Just my 2p's worth.

What do you mean by 'kits for the brembos'? Like conversion kits or replacement pistons?

Which kits are you guys using? I figure the 304mm 6 pots are probably enough for road use.

I have 356mm brakes and they replaced brembos.
one of my brembos seized and then the bolt snapped when i tried to remove them and needed helicoiling.
so brembos have issues too.

Are they 8 pots or 6? Under 18'' wheels by my reckoning? How do you find them??

This is true. You use the car on track much?

Had my Ksport 8 pots for 12 months now and no issues so far, however I learned that the key to having brakes that work is to take them to bits and clean them every few months (remove pins/pads etc, clean them & calipers, reassemble). Same goes for the Subaru 4pot front & 2pot rears.

The other thing needed is decent brake pads, I have EBC Orange all round at present, they have excellent bite and work great at track temps without fade but really don't wear very well on track. My plan is to get something more suited for track but only use them on track e.g. swap them out after the track day. Probably be looking at Carbone Lorraine RC6.

BTW - I don't use any anti-squeal shims and find that this gives much improved pedal feel.

Cheers,

AJS

Sorry Neil, meant that there are piston/seal repair kits for the brembos.
So they are just as likely to have problems with sticking pistons etc

Is it true the ksport actually have less of the pad touching the disc when the brakes are applied compared to oem brembos?

Ah thanks,

Just wondering if a person was to fit ksport 8pots to the front only (matching pads all round) would it affect the balance of the car when braking hard?

Dont want the rear snaking around.

What rear calipers do you have?

I have 290mm 2 pots on the rear, albeit they arent in great condition, but yes, the back end goes light when i really stomp on the pedal
