Default Tyre size for classic

Just wondered what tyre sizes you guys recommend for a classic impreza on 17" rims, I've currently got 215/40/17s on at the moment, but due some new rubber soon and would be interested in your thoughts. The car is running about 250bhp and won't be going on the track.

Thanks in advance

Matt

if you go in a profile the gearing is changed, so your speedometer will not read correctly ...stick to 215/40/17 or go 215/45/16

Don't do it, too big and will more than likely rub if you've got people in the back

Not keen of them, they are budget.

I like these, but they are getting rarer due to the factory being badly damaged in the tsunami:

Four for £337 isn't bad.

That's a good price. I had those on my blob STI and found to be very good, I also hear that they are better suited to a classic impreza to.

Could I run a set of 205/40/17s with no problems as now I'm looking to buy a new set wheels and tyres and the package comes with the above size tyres.

I have 3 sets of wheels for my r, a set of standard 16s running 205 45 16, my black oz 17s running 215 40 17 and a set of ultralight 18s with 225 35 18 on them . .

the 'tallest' profile on my 16 makes by far for the better ride but that's not really what your asking for. Width wise I feel like my wider 18's can feel like its on rails and driving itself sometimes, although the skinny tyres make for less traction the car drives better on the whole. 215's of any size are the happy medium imo

To be honest I wouldn't mind a bit more of a softer ride. My car seems to tram line a fair bit and I'm not sure if the tyres are the course of it, they are Yokohama spec 2s. Has anyone else had this problem with these tyres?

Try 215/44's then.

But you may end up with some rubbing, and your speedo will be even further out.

215/40/17 is the correct size, 45's should be 205s or it will be more than 3% out

225 eh, not a classic then?

https://www.scoobynet.com/tire_rim_calculator.php

put the 215/40/17 in the current tyre section then what you wish / have already got on underneath.

but if you're running a newage, refer to owners handbook regarding tyre profile originally supplied, this thread is about classic
