Tyres-it's that time again
I've just seen the Dunlop sport bluresponse and Goodyear efficient grip performance- had anyone used either of these?
They are obviously the higher performance tyres but they score well on fuel efficiency and are the best for wet grip. They're also quiet!
I've had Bridgestones on it for the last 3yrs ( the same set!) and I'm inclined to get them again tbh. The ones I have are the turanza (er300).
I've been looking at the RE050, as I see a lot of folk rate them, but on that fuel/wet grip/noise rating they don't actually score as well on wet grip, yet they're the ones described as being 'ultra high performance'. They're also cheaper than turanza's.
So how does that work then?!
Is that rating thing just bollocks?? (It is EU so I wouldn't be surprised!)
While I'm at it, what's the deal with Vredesteins?? I can't get the sessanta in 16" so it'd have to be sportrac5's, are they any good? They rate better than the RE050 and are cheaper again.
I'm not overly bothered on prices though, i dont hang about so I'd rather have a decent tyre and not be in a ditch!
Thanks for any info!

For the Vredesteins, I can't speak for the Sportrac's as I've got 235/40/18 Sessantas - but they're excellent. I honestly think they're a contender for the "big four" tyre manufacturers, so if they're cheaper I'd say they're at least worth a gamble.

What did you get?
Due to replace all 4 on my 05 STi and I can't decide what to put on it.
Had Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta on it before. Falkens on it now and don't want either next.
I've never had the RE 050 before but one tyre I'd never use again is the Bridgestone RE 070 coz I nearly killed myself with those on. Death traps in the wet when they're getting low.

nokian
just got nokian ZG2 205/50R16 91 W XL. 73 pounds each delivered (from germany), through oponeo.
There is little to choose between these and the pilot exaltos i had previously except the nokians are a bit better in the wet and the michelins are almost double the price (though not available any more in that size).
