17x7.5 Vs 17x8
Now thinking of going new wheels
If mine are 17x7.5, with 215/45/17
Would there be much noticeable difference running 17x8 and keeping the 215/45/17 tyre size?
As in the alloy becoming more prominent?
Or how much arch work would be needed to run 225/45/17
On a classic btw
Thanks

The arch work will also depend on the offset of the new whell and the height of your car.
I'm running 17x8" +45 with 215/45/17 in my car. The tires are a bit, just a bit, streched. I'm considering going to a wider tire next tire change but not sure yet due to the additional work that has to be done in the archs...
My car has rolled fenders, some camber (1.40º front, 1º rear) and was lowered a lot on these combination of wheel/tire. Was a bit rubby in the rear fenders of the car, and inside the arch in front on tight corners. Now I'm running it a bit higher and no rubbing issues at all.
Here is when it was lower in my opinion:
You can see the rear tire more streched due to the corner load.
Here is a pic where you can see how much the 215 tires are streched in a 8" wider wheel (rear tire looks like a balloon):
Front view, no load at all ;-):
tracked and drag raced the car many times, no tire issues.
cheers
