Tyre size on stock rims impreza 2.0R
Hi guys,
I just bought my first Subaru, an 2008 Impreza 2.0R sport.
The first thing i need is new summer tires...and after some searches i`ve decided on goodyear eagle f1 asymetric2.
Now, my problem is: can i fit 225/45/17 on my stock rims?
The rims have now some old barum tyres with 205/50/17 dimension.
I`m almost sure the rim width is 7jj, so theoretically they can fit the 225 width.
But i need a second opinion from you guys if this setup is ok, what are the risks i take by changing it...
I know, there is a big chance that the overall fuel consumption to rise, but that's not a real threat...the only thing i`m worried about is not to affect the car`s driving train and those tires fit the stock rims.
Any advice will be treated with a virtual beer! Thank you!

All tyres have a recommended range of rim widths, as you say you should be fine. A pal did this and reckoned he had better wet weather grip, and the gearing will be very close to your current set-up.

Not likely, read how wider some people are going, with 8.5" rims and 245 or more tyres....
Mine had minor arch fretting on full lock with 235's on an 8" rim.
You should be fine.
IMHO
