Default Help with D2 Brakes.. Pad Stuck

Hey Guys,

Went to change the pads on my D2 8 Pot brakes but have a problem on
the right side caliper, The pad on the inner side of the disk will not come out of the caliper it moves side to side with a hit with a hammer but will not slot out. Pistons are free and away from the pad but the pad will just not pull out.

Any ideas would be great as the car is just sitting with no brakes at the minute.

Thanks guys

Dex

have you tried to remove the caliper from the disc, as one pad is removed it should come off ok.

Hi tubbytommy,
I did try this but couldnt move the bolts at all, going to have another go tomorrow.
its wedged in solid and you cant get to the front of the pad to knock it out .

Will try taking caliper off then I should be able to push it out.

Thanks for the advice mate

you will need a big breaker bar to shift the bolts they are torqued up very tight.

just hope whoever fitted them used copper ease on the bolts.

yeah I tried with socket brace bar and couldnt budge em.

Also I noticed when i done the other side that with the new performance friction pads in place they are quite tight upto the disk on both sides, Its like they are too fat, too much brake compound is this normal

i fitted mine from new the pads slotted in perfectly and not too tight, are you sure the pistons are back far enough in the calipers?

also are you trying to move the bolt in the correct direction, as said earlier a big breaker bar will be needed due to the tightness of the bolts.

yeah defo ALL 8 pistone are smooth with the caliper wall
pushed back no problem.

I think the 2 bolts are just really tight and I did not have much leverage as the car
was only on axel stand and me on the drive lol

will give it another go

Thanks mate

dont know about the pads, as the only experience i have had with the brakes is fitting when new, but i think the bolts will need more leverage to shift though.
