Default Front Brembo upgrade help!

Thanks for looking.

Going to fit the front Brembo's I have to my Hawk WRX in the morning, what do people usually do with the standard WRX stone guards / heat deflectors, remove them completely (they're bolted on right?) or bend them out of the way so they dont rub but retain them?

Also when bleeding, is it the inside or outside nipple you bleed from first?

Thanks!

Thanks Ian I appreciate it.

Are they bolted on or spot welded like the rear?

Also is there any disadvantage to removing the heat shield, I.E should I be looking to source a set of STI ones?

I have braided hoses if it helps (thinking melting standard brake lines)?

Thanks again.

Hi
They are just bolted on , we have been removing them since 1998 and have never had an issue.
The standard hoses will be fine , and will cause no issues with the plate removed , braided hoses will give you a better pedal feel though
Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, I fitted them last night, very straight forward it was too although I think I need a re-bleed as the pedal feel is a bit spongy despite me having braided lines already.
I think my initial bleed with the car being stationary maybe didn't get all the air out of the caliper? After driving the car today any remaining air should have risen to the top of the caliper and a rebleed should get this out, sound logical?

Also, I didn't need to remove the heat shield at all, it sits nicely behind the bigger rotor and does not contact it or the caliper in any way, there's plenty of space between it and the rotor too? Maybe they changed the heat shield on the later cars or something? Mine's a 56 plate. It seemed to make sense to leave it on there at the time but maybe I've missed the point?

I did have an issue with one side of one caliper, the sliders on the caliper, on one side the pad a very tight fit so I ended up filing down the pad a little, the sliders were clean and I tried all the pads I had and every one was the same so defo something up with the caliper/sliders on that side?

Thanks again for any advice you can offer.
