Question

Hi guys,

Wondered if anybody out there with standard subaru 4 pots (and 294mm discs) could measure the following two dimensions, please.

Thanks in advance,

Tony.

A = about 55mm, as near as I can get without taking wheel off!
B = 32mm

Are you a mind reader Matt????? Yep, still trying to get some better brakes behind my wheels. I can get some 5mm shims form rally design (i.e take the wheel to ET50mm) and i wanted to know if that would give the required clearance (on the standard size 294mm discs).

Can't measure my wheel clearance at the mo cos my alloys are being refurbished tho .

Tone,
see if you can find someone to let you try one of your wheels on their car, that'd be the best way to ensure they fit!

Hiya tony,

Yeah 5mm could be a little close mate. I think 7mm would be more like it.

I have the measurements for this. If i get them before you get your wheels back i'll let you know.

Cheers guys,

Matt, if you can give me the measurments that would be great. I'll try and get the tape measure out myself tomorrow too when ive got the wheels back on.I probably would have gone for 7mm shims but rally design only have 5mm and 10mm available.

Ron, thats my plan of attack. But first i want to get a rough idea of the minimum size needed, order one then try it on someone's car (anybody in the manchester area want to be kind enough ).

Tony.

Tony,

Sorry mate cant find/remember all the measurements taken. But from the face of the disc to the inside of the spokes its 47mm(think that was at its narrowest point at the edge of the rim but the caliper wouldnt be that far out) So you need 8mm extra (caliper is 55mm) so it looks like a 10mm spacer with longer wheel studs to be sure they'd clear.

Although the speedlines for the foresters are ET48 (i think...shockin memory) so you should really only need 7mm.

Sorry it's all abit vague but forgot the measurements taken before i got my new brakes.

Do you want these brakes that much ?

Matt
