Prodrive Alcon Discs
Hi Folks,
I am looking at getting a set of Prodrive Alcons and Rear Classic 2 Pots refurbed at Godspeed for the P1 when it comes back on the road this spring (the K-sports are just overkill!)
Pad wise I am a fan of the DS2500’s so I think I have got that nailed down.
I also need to get myself some new discs front and rear.
On the rear am I right in thinking I just need some newage WRX discs?
Regards the front- what are people’s experiences with Godspeed front disc and bell kits?
Is there anything else I should consider?
I have done some reading from past threads and there appear to be some rarities where the discs warp however Ian guarantee's them against warping so I assume if (touch wood) this happened then they would just replace the discs? Has anyone been through the process or having replacements based on this guarantee?
How well do these set ups, particularly the bells, hold up against corrosion?
Has anybody got any experience of a comparrison with the ASP kit from Alyn?
Final question- for the rear discs, what is the best way to protect the 'non-disc' area (hub part) from corroding? Just a zinc prime and paint or is there a better way?
Thanks,
Chris

Godspeed discs are great I have used a set with alcons for about 6 months with no problems.
The discs if wet will get some surface rust in a couple of days which clears off when used but this is due to the quality of the steel used.
Would not advise leaving them in a wet environment unused and unprotected for a long time as the surface rust might damage the disc .But this goes for almost any brake disc.
The bells remain immaculate as they are anodised or if silver ( like mine) they must be coated.
I think they look and perform a lot better than the original Alcon discs.
I like the ability to replace the disc and not the bells if required. And the fact that alloy conducts heat out of the disc more effectively.
Hope this helps.

They look smart Are the Godspeed bells anodised or how do they come? What colours would look best on a P1? Just silver or black?
Still waiting on prices from Godspeed to come through.

a lot depends on the wuality of the ali bells IMO...........
high tensile ali is less susceptible than the likes of the "machine cut" type......

We have used high strength aircraft spec alloy for donkies years , and if left uncoated it corrodes , so we anodise all our bells now to stop this happening.
The only downside to anodising , especially if using colours like red and blue , is the colour fades with the heat , so doesn't take long to turn your bright red bells into a lovely shade of pink as my son found out a few years ago much to the amusement of his friends
Our standard colour is black now , but can have them done to order various colours
