Default Tyre for PFFF7's on a Widetrack Blob

Hi All, just driving home from a friends and found myself needing 45 degrees steering lock to avoid the ditch on my left hand side. Left front mudflap scraping on the floor, and got home to find my front left tyre flat as a fart.

I bought the car with the current tyres on it, ContiSportContact 3's... and they're 235/40 ZR 18's on 18" PFFF7's. I went to ScoobyClinic for a service in November and the mechanic told me that my tyres weren't the proper size, and when I need to swap them I should get a different size... does anybody know what he means and what I should go for?

I guess changing one tyre is a no-no and I should look at replacing at least the two fronts at once?

I ran 235's on my old STi without a problem and on a 8" wide rim they're not a problem. Most common size would be 225 but the extra width helps to protect the rim a bit better.

JDM STi's run 235/45/17 on a 8" rim.

I'd certainly replace both the fronts at a time not just a single

I'll stick with 235's then, cheers Bodski.

I've gone for 2x Rainsport2's for the fronts - read some decent reviews. Getting the PFFF7's powdercoated in a couple of months so will replace the rears to match when doing that too I think.

How does tyre wear normally go on the Impreza? I guess rears go marginally quicker than the fronts?

I found the opposite tbh. With a Impreza setup out of the factory to understeer the front's tended to wear out first.

235/40 ZR18 are OK on this size of the alloys/wheels,although many people running on those alloys/wheels 225/40 ZR18 as most common size of the tyres

You will need to have changed all 4 wheels(if you are want),not only two of them, you can screw the diff with different sizes of the tyres

Surely replacing the front 2 tyres with the same size 235 as used previously wouldn't screw the diff up ??

Aye I think the point being made was that if I wanted to change away from 235, I'd need to change away from 235 on the back too.
