I really rate Kumho ecsta le sport ku39. For my car (215/45 17) they are around £75 a corner fitted, they are A rated for wet grip and C rated for economy (may be different for your size).

I know plenty on here will jump and say they are crap, but I've got to wonder if they have ever tried these tyres (they are better than the ku31 ecsta sport).
From my experience, they do offer great wet grip and struggle to brake traction even when pressing on. Tyre life seems to be pretty good so far as well (again better than the ku31's).

I hated the T1S on a Newage STI, too soft, had to swap for RE-070's.

IMHO obviously.

thanks guys. Im kind of swaying towards a set of goodyear Eagle F1 ASYMMETRIC
225/45 R17 91W at £108 a corner fitted or the ASYMMETRIC 2s at £120

Forget the Goodyear F1's, Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta pisses all over them

Agreed with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta they're great running them on our wagon and must admit great tyres in every weather and not bad too on the track/drag

Are the F1s really that bad? im looking for all year round tyre really.
The thing is my local garage is doing a deal on them and if i wanted Toyo or Vredestein i'd have to order them in. If RE - 070s are bad in the wet i dont fancy them.
cheers guys

Another fan of kuhmo ecstas here, used them on my 300bhp GT4 and I loved them, they lasted really well too.

I would have put them on the STI but it already has toyo proxes t1r on the back so I'm putting the same on the front next week

cheers guys, just had a look at the current tyres and they are 215 / 45ZR 17. I dont know why i had 225 in my head. So im looking at getting a set of the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's. Ive got the choice of standard - 215/45 R17 87Y or the extra load ones - 215/45 R17 91Y. The current tyres have some buldging on the inner walls so im not sure if this is down to the previous owners under inflating or if they aren't extra load and should be. sorry if im being boring and picky but ive not looked into tyres much in the past and looking to get the right ones. Do i need to get the extra load?
thanks

Good choice - there was a test last year with the Goodyear doing well. Hankook Ventus did surprisingly well too. Top spot went to Continental SC 3. While you're getting your new tyres on it's laways worth getting a full geo check as this can dictate how the tyres feel/behave more than the tyre themselves.

thanks Sprigeteer, Looks like the F1s are a good choice then. :-) Do you know if you have extra load tyres? cheers

To be utterly pedantic, yes new name and a new tread pattern.

Maybe the same construction ?
