Default Brand new classic 4 pot calipers, Kevlar pads and braided lines but still not happy

I have a my99 uk classic, I have replaced the calipers for brand new wrx pro items with Kevlar pads and braided lines, rears are single pot vented items. All disks are nearly new but I still find the brakes lacking. It's the initial bite mainly which doesn't inspire confidence. Is there anything else I can do, my car is being remapped to 300+ soon and I don't feel the current brakes are upto the job. Do I need to upgrade to newage brembos??!!

I'm not too fond of my brakes either. Bought the car with 2-pot fronts / 1-pot rears and with one of the calipers not working properly the thing was plain scary to drive.

Upgraded to 4-pot / 2-pot setup (with Black Diamond discs / pads, I know...) and it's better but I still get much better bite from my diesel Volvo V70! That said, I understand it's just the way Subaru have engineered their braking system with less assist than one would expect. On the track on sticky tyres the brakes actually performed quite well.

I do have a set of new age Brembos that I'm thinking of using during summer. You could upgrade to Brembos but first you could try some better pads - kevlar ones are adequate but are on the lower end of the performance scale.

You would need better pads , the kevlar pads are basically the first step up from standard , something we would recommend for someone who uses there car as an everyday drive and gives it some stick now and again , if your going to have it remapped soon then they wouldn't cope with 300 hp.

If you fit better pads it would make a big difference , the pads are the most important factor in a brake set up

Cheers Ian

if its a road car then the likes of a matched set of Brembo Sport pads would be a better step than E*C IMO...............

not a hardened track pad but very capable of fast road work and a big step forward in "bite" terms over Kevlar (which i find fairly poor)

Have you thought of having the brake bias valve removed, make the rears do more work? Mine is better since it was done.
