Default brake caliper paint

I'm thinking of painting my brake calipers on my Impreza RX come the good weather.

Has any one any recommendations for which paint manufacturer to use. I would be looking to paint them red to match the car's colour.

Thanks

I think you'll find most folk use Hammerite Smooth.

Two coats, brushed, does a good job, it lasts and is easily touched up should you chip it.
And, best of all, it can be put on bare metal after cleaning it with a wire brush, no need for special cleaners or even rust killer.

Thanks for the response.

Hammerite - hadn't thought about that as been looking at specialist paints.

All I need now is some good weather......

I have just used normal run of the mill spray paint on all my calipers followed by a clear coat and have never had any problems, I would imagine if you are doing track days then the temp might be a problem but for normal fast road use all mine have been fine,.

My reason for painting the cailpers primarily is to make them easier to clean when changing brake pads, besides they would look better, in my opinion, than silver alloy calipers showing through the wheels.

One own, three to go.

Used red Hammerite, even though the one picture makes it look pinkish.

Thought I'd do the offside one first to see how I get on, so if *****'ed it up it's not as noticable as the nearside.

You watch it rain for 40 days & 40 nights so I can't do the other three calipers.

Instant +25BHP there!

I did them all round on my missus old car, makes it look a lot tidier imo. i painted the inner bits of the disk as well as they tend to go rusty over time to keep it looking smart

Only 25BHP extra

Is that per caliper, as I've only done one, or once all 4 have been done?

Due to adding weight due to the Hammerite, would it not have a negative effect on performance?
