What tyres, i'm new.
Hi
I've just bought my first Impreza. It is a 2004 WRX, and I need some new tyres on it. I've had a look at some of the previous threads but it is all a little confusing as I don't know many of the brands etc.
I am familiar with the big names but brands like Toyo and Hankook I had never hear of until today. I am going to be using it as a daily driver all year round, but particularly now over winter. I live on country lanes and B roads and want something that will be good in the wet. I don't really have a budget in mind but as long as it isn't stupid money, I'm willing to spend premium brand money if it is worth it.
Can anyone recommend?
thanks

I was advised by my local Scooby garage to try some Maxxis MAZ1`s. I priced them up and thought....too cheap. Nevertheless, I put 4 on my 2003 Blob STI and I`m very very impressed with the grip levels.

Another vote for Goodyear F1s. Though they are amongst the best in the wet, they don't function at their best at lower than +7C, so if you are likely to encounter much snow, winter tyres are the (expensive but amazingly grippy) answer.

Can someone tell me what size tyres I would need for a 2004 WRX with standard wheels. I don't have the car yet and won't to find out availability and prices near me.

Vredstein Sessanta ultrac, hard to beat and one of the best alternative tyres out there, would easily rate them higher than the goodyears for grip wet/dry and far less flex.
As for winter grip, these are summer tyres, they will not perform well in ice/snow, if you want grip in those conditions then you need winter rated tyres.

Falken 453s , newer version of 452s ..... Tested properly Excellent grip levels....Wet and dry.... sidewalls a quite stiff also so gives alot of feedback ... Can only compare to Parada spec 2s, RE50s, toyo TR1 and i must say they the best from all of others i had.

Thanks for the replies. Quite interested in the Goodyear Eagle F1s. However there are so many different ones I'm not sure which ones I should be looking at. Has someone got a link to the particular type of Eagle F1?
The older eagler F1s have a V shaped pattern. I know it sounds silly but all these V shaped ones look more like performance tyres than the new looking Eagle F1. Also a tyre shop near me said the old style Eagle F1s were better in the wet etc. Any thoughts?
