I've done 1 track day and a track session on my hatch STI on ebc orange stuff and they are shockingly crap! I'd suggest carbontech XP8's but they are dusty but well worth with!

Carbone Lorraine RC6

Heard plenty of good stuff although they do seem a little harsh for the road...

I've always ran Ferodo DS3000 pads in my rally car and found them very good , I have XP16 in at the moment and am also finding them very good , very good bite at all temps , so far they are not hard on discs but I have only done one rally , and the rally car day at the weekend , I'm back out this weekend on a rally , so will strip them down and have a good look at the discs and pads.

The DS3000's will be cheaper than the XP16's , and give a similar performance , I guess it just depends on which one lasts the longest and is easiest on discs , the DS300's are quite aggressive on discs

Cheers Ian

Easily outperform ? I don't think so , I have tried most pads and up till now have always gone back to DS3000's , as I'm leading my class , and 2nd overall in the Welsh tarmac championship i'd say they were working very well , and thats in a car with only 168 hp

personal opinion Ian, bearing in mind that i have a very good relationship with Ferodo Racing so its in my interests to say different but the ds3000 i just cant get on with
also proven in various testing in a range of cars

Im very impressed with the performance friction pads im running! Called heavily on them on track days and they just keep going, plus theyre fantastic from cold on the road and so far dont seem to be munching through the discs.... they arent cheap, but theyre a prime example of the saying "buy cheap, buy twice!"

Ian, id presume that a rally environment with 168 horses wont be asking the same as a 300+ track car on a circuit! Dont get me wrong, your results prove your not hanging about, but a road rally is just a completely different kettle of fish isnt it? And a gravel rally with so much less grip under the tyre wont be asking for nearly as much.

Im beating EVO's and Impreza's on a regular basis , i'm not doing road rallies , I am doing the Welsh tarmac championship , check out this video from the rally day in castle combe , these are 300hp escorts , where I gain is under braking

The gravel rallies wont ask as much of the brakes as they will on tarmac , but then they probably would for me as I left foot brake alot in the woods more so than tarmac

Which compound PF pads are you running ?

Im running the Z's .... think the 01's are a bit overkill for a road/track car.

CJ, think the PF Z's come in at about £130 ..... could be wrong!

Fair play Ian, i saw you on track at rallyday ..... not hanging about!

Some rounded up prices to compare-

DS3000 are £230 a set
RS15 are £250 a set
PF08 are £265 a set

PF Z's I've just had a retail price of £140 + vat a set , I'd have to double check that as they were about £99 the last time we bought some of them , the Z rated pads would not get anywhere near the above in performance though

Cheers Ian

To Add , I have a few sets of PF97 pads here which are also a very good pad , although they are fairly hard on discs , I can supply you a set of these for £99.
I used to use these on a cosworth rally car I had a while ago and found them very good

have you been quoted £140+VAT for an STi pad fitment??

if so they have it totally wrong current RRP is £90.42+VAT for fronts

if you liked the 97 then you will be need to try some of the newer compunds Ian as its quite olod now and whilst still available the likes of 06/08 will jump over it......

Im running these and they are brilliant...on par with pf, cabotech etc but cheaper about £150 a set.

Ive run ds2500
Ndx blue
Orange and all crap compared to cl rc6

Also no bedding in process at all work straight away and excellent cold bite, no fade AT ALL!
P.s they do squeal around town driving below 30mph but over that speed there fine. But it dosent bother me anymore as theres a bit of negative but the positives outnumber the squealing.

Google them and look at reviews.
